A British traveller has been arrested in Bali on suspicion of stabbing a receptionist at a luxury hotel in a surprise attack caught on video.
The attack happened in the car park of the resort hotel when a receptionist came outside to speak to the Briton at his vehicle before he suddenly lunged at the worker’s face with a blade – an incident captured in footage obtained by the Daily Mail.
The video then appears to show the suspect getting back into his car and speeding away, with another man jumping onto the bonnet in an apparent attempt to stop him escaping.
The knifeman fled the scene but was captured three hours later and is now in police custody.
The 35-year-old from London has been named locally as Aaron Michel.
The stabbing happened at a resort near Gilimanuk Sea Port in North Bali on Tuesday night.
The victim was a worker at Menjangan Dynasty Resort, a luxury resort in Buleleng Regency, shortly after 8pm local time.

A source said: ‘The British guy had driven into the hotel carpark and told staff he wanted to do a room inspection – to decide if he wanted to book in.
‘But when a front office staff member approached him outside to ask some further questions he suddenly produced a knife and stabbed him in the face.
‘He then quickly escaped in his car. It seems to have been a completely motiveless attack.’
The incident was immediately reported to the Buleleng Police, and just over three hours later, shortly before midnight, a suspect was found and arrested in the car parked up in front of a shop, near Gilimanuk Sea Port.
The man arrested was said to have been carrying two knives.
Police spokesperson First Inspector Yohana Rosalin Diaz confirmed that police have arrested a British man.
‘We have received the official report about the stabbing committed by the foreigner and the suspect has been arrested,’ Rosalin Diaz said. ‘The suspect is being intensively interrogated.’
She added that the Buleleng Police investigator team are conducting further inquiries.
Rosalin said that the force will hold a press conference with further details later this week.
The victim survived but suffered injuries to his left eye as well as his chin, back, hand, and fingers.
