A BRITISH supermarket giant is set to close another site – just weeks after announcing major expansion plans.
Locals will lose access to the grocer alongside the town’s only post office.

Co-op announced the Minehead town centre supermarket would close by the middle of June.
A spokesperson told the West Somerset Free Press that the closure was the result of a failed planning application.
The redevelopment plans included a purpose-built and sustainable Co-op store, along with a block of 35 new apartments.
However, the application was rejected by Somerset Council planners just four months ago, after it “failed to reflect the character of the town centre.”
The spokesperson added: “Co-op remains committed to serving the Minehead community through our Alcombe store.
“Our priority is to fully support The Avenue store colleagues, and we would like to thank the community for its continued support for the Co-op in the town.”
Residents will now have just eight weeks to make use of the supermarket before its doors officially shut.
This follows recent news that the supermarket chain aimed to expand its retail services in 2026.
This includes a proposed takeover of Southern Co-op just a few weeks ago.
If the deal is approved, hundreds of new food and funeral shops are expected to open nationwide.
