IRAN’S top negotiator has slammed Donald Trump’s ceasefire claims as leaders vow the US will never get hold of the nuclear dust.
In a post on social media, Mohammed-Bagher Ghalibaf wrote: “The President of the United States made seven claims in one hour, all seven of which are false.”
Earlier today, Trump emphatically declared that Iran will never shut the Strait of Hormuz again.
“They did not win the war with these lies, and they certainly will not get anywhere in negotiations either,” Ghalibaf wrote.
“With the continuation of the blockage, the Strait of Hormuz will not remain open.”
He continued: “Passage through the Strait of Hormuz shall be conducted on the ‘designated route’ and with ‘Iranian authorisation’.
“The open or closed status of the strait and the regulations governing it shall be determined by the field, not by social networks.”
This comes after Trump declared the Strait of Hormuz “fully open”, but not for Iranian ships.
As it stands the US blockade only applies to Iranian ships that have visited Iranian ports, as well as vessels carrying sanctioned oil.
The US president said the American naval blockade on Iran will “remain in full force” until a permanent deal is struck with Tehran.
Celebrating the breakthrough on Truth Social, Trump wrote: “IRAN HAS JUST ANNOUNCED THAT THE STRAIT OF IRAN IS FULLY OPEN AND READY FOR FULL PASSAGE. THANK YOU!”
“Iran has agreed to never close the Strait of Hormuz again,” Trump added.
“It will no longer be used as a weapon against the World.”
Iran’s foreign minister issued a similar declaration, stating the waterway was “completely open” for the rest of the temporary ceasefire.
Abbas Aragchi said the decision to open the shipping lane came after Israel agreed to stop blitzing Lebanon with a ten-day temporary ceasefire that started on Thursday night.
The US president also said on Thursday night that Iran had “agreed not to have a nuclear weapon” and that talks over a lasting agreement will “probably” take place this weekend.
“The U.S.A will get all Nuclear ‘Dust,’ created by our great B2 Bombers – No money will exchange hands in any way, shape or form,” Trump said.
Speaking about Iran’s supply of enriched Uranium, Trump said: “We’re going to get it together. We’re going to go in with Iran, at a nice leisurely pace, and go down and start excavating with big machinery.
“We’ll bring it back to the United States.”
The White House is said to even be considering a $20billion (£14.75bn) deal to entice Tehran to give up its entire stockpile of enriched Uranium.
Peace talks previously broke down due to Iran’s refusal to abandon its nuclear ambitions.
According to reports, Washington has now asked to be sent all of Iran’s nuclear material via ship.
In response Iran’s foreign ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baqaei said: “Iran’s enriched uranium is not going to be transferred anywhere.”
Instead, it would only consider “blending it down” inside the country – into dust form.
A rumoured compromise under discussion would see some of the highly enriched uranium shipped to a country which is not the US.
Crunch talks are now ongoing between the sides with US Vice President JD Vance expected to lead a second round of talks in Pakistan this weekend.
