Kim Kardashian‘s inspiration for her sculpted fembot look that she donned at the 2026 Met Gala has been revealed.
The 45-year-old TV personality – who recently delivered an emotional speech while attending a Broadway play – unveiled the unique ensemble as she walked the red carpet alongside other stars on Monday at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
She put on a leggy display in an orange metallic bodysuit by British artist Allen Jones and Whitaker Malem that had a custom-molded breast plate on the front.
Leather material fell down behind her and contained hues of both tan and vibrant orange.
The outfit took inspiration from Jones’ poster for the 1975 French erotic film Maîtresse and was controversial in both the U.S. and U.K. upon its release.
The project received an X rating in the United States.

The premise is: ‘A common thief breaks into the home of a professional dominatrix. After he begins to help her “train” her clients, he falls in love with her,’ per IMDB.
Kardashian jumped to her Instagram stories to also share a similar poster and other artwork by Jones ahead of her Met Gala appearance.
And on her main page, she uploaded a series of photos as she modeled the outfit as well as additional sculpted pieces from Jones and Malem.
Celebrities have collaborated with the British artist in the past, such as Kate Moss who also modeled a full body, orange metallic piece called Body Armour in 2013.
The look was first created by Jones in 1978 for an unreleased movie.
During an interview with Vogue, Kardashian opened up about how her collaboration with the artist for the Met Gala came to be.
‘I have seen his work referenced so many times by people in fashion, and I’ve always been a big admirer of his work.’
The mom-of-four continued, ‘Allen Jones would be iconic: Sexy. Classic. Cool. Innovative.’

The breastplate is repurposed, with the reality star explaining that she ‘wanted something original – I didn’t want to cast my own body.’
The piece was made in three weeks and the painting of the breastplate notably took place inside an auto body shop, according to Vogue.
The leather skirt addition was from Malem while the painted brushstrokes on the material were done by Jones.
Kardashian paired the outfit with closed-toed nude heels and opted to not add flashy pieces of jewelry.
Her locks were a platinum blonde hue and the strands flowed down in messy waves past her shoulders.
She posed up a storm on the star-studded red carpet during the festivities and was joined by other family members such as mom Kris Jenner and sister Kylie Jenner.
The SKIMS founder also shared a few BTS clips to her Instagram stories as she sported the one-of-a-kind look ahead of the annual event.
A separate clip captured Kardashian strolling outside of her NYC hotel while linking arms with Jones.

Kardashian also offered her followers insight into a meal she likes to indulge in before heading to the Met Gala.
She shared a snap while holding an ice cream cone that was topped with colorful sprinkles.
In text added over the image, the media personality simply penned: ‘Met prep.’
The mom-of-four is no stranger to the annual event and Monday marked her 12th time at the Met Gala.
The All’s Fair actress first made her debut at the star-studded fundraiser back in 2013 and had showed off her baby bump at the time in a floral Givenchy dress.

She has also gone to great lengths to fit into looks on the red carpet, such as when she wore Marilyn Monroe’s iconic Bob Mackie dress in 2022.
‘It was such a challenge,’ Kardashian previously told Vogue as she discussed losing 16 pounds over the span of just three weeks.
‘It was like a role. I was determined to fit,’ the star said before sharing her diet and fitness regime to achieve her weight loss goal.
‘I would wear a sauna suit twice a day, run on the treadmill, completely cut out all sugar and all carbs, and just eat the cleanest veggies and protein. I didn’t starve myself, but I was so strict.’
