Reform UK vows to ‘deport 400,000 migrants granted asylum in past five years’ under tough new border crackdown plans

FOUR hundred thousand migrants who have been granted asylum in the past five years face being deported under Reform UK plans.

Nigel Farage’s party vows to review the asylum decisions to determine if individuals can stay as part of the crackdown.

Anyone who entered the country illegally, those who overstayed their visas or if their home country is now deemed safe would be returned.

Individuals who fail any of the criteria will see their leave to remain revoked and they will be given a set time period to leave the country.

The estimated departure of 400,000 people is based on those already in the system and those expected to enter it over the next three years.

Around 55 per cent of asylum applicants over the past five years arrived here by small boat or without the right paperwork.

The plans will be aided by Reform UK pulling out of the European Convention on Human Rights and also derogating from the 1951 Refugee Convention.

Zia Yusuf, the party’s home affairs spokesman, said: “For years, Tory and Labour governments have presided over an invasion of Britain.

“They have effectively operated an open borders policy. Instead of upholding the law, they have rewarded those who broke it by entering Britain illegally.”

He said it was now time for Reform to “reverse” this policy.

They added: “A Reform government will review the previous 5 years of asylum grants, and anyone who broke into the country illegally or overstayed on another visa will be stripped of their status and deported.

“We will do what it takes to restore justice in Britain.”

Shadow Home Secretary Chris Philp said: “The Conservatives have already proposed a detailed borders plan to pull out of the ECHR and completely ban asylum claims by illegal immigrants. Instead, we would deport them within a week of arrival.

“The Conservative’s Removals Force will deport 150,000 immigrants each year with no right to be here.

“Reform is slowing catching up with our ideas – but without the detail that will ensure it works in practice.”
