Former Premier League manager and Sky Sports pundit casually goes to McDonald’s and takes selfies with fans after win

STRASBOURG boss Gary O’Neil posed for snaps with fans at McDonald’s after a massive win in the Europa Conference League.

The former Bournemouth and Wolves boss, who has also appeared as a pundit on Sky Sports, masterminded a 4-0 victory over Mainz in the second leg of Strasbourg’s quarter-final on Thursday night.

That sealed an impressive comeback after a 2-0 defeat in last week’s first leg in Germany.

And it set up a high-stakes semi with Rayo Vallecano in two weeks’ time.

O’Neil, 42, dove into McDonald’s for some late-night grub after his team did the business in Alsace.

He was filmed tapping away at the self-service kiosk as fans rubbed their eyes in amazement.

One supporter – decked out in a blue Strasbourg scarf – interrupted O’Neil’s order to ask for a selfie, and the former Prem boss was more than happy to oblige.

Others in the restaurant banged their tables in appreciation of a good night’s work.

The clip did the rounds on X, where one fan wrote: “He really wanted that Big Mac!”

Another posted: “Little McChicken and Big Mac after qualifying for the semis.”

A third replied: “I’m in tears.”

And a fourth fan commented: “Yeah, I totally dig him.”

O’Neil was appointed by Strasbourg, who are run by Chelsea owners BlueCo, in January after Liam Rosenior was lured to Stamford Bridge.

And he has made an impressive start with only three defeats in 17 games.

Strasbourg have dropped one place in Ligue 1 from seventh to eighth since Rosenior’s departure.

But they are into the last four of the Conference League, with a possible final showdown against Crystal Palace on the horizon.

And they are also in with a shot of Coupe de France glory – their semi-final against Nice pencilled in for next Wednesday.

O’Neil could be frustrated this summer, however, with Chelsea striking pre-agreements to nab prolific young striker Emanuel Emegha and promising full-back Valentin Barco.
