At around 4.20pm on Easter Sunday (April 5), seven fire engines rushed to a property in Severeness, Kent to tackle a huge blaze.

Kent Police helped evacuate nearby properties and blocked off traffic from the residential road.

Keah Cadman was shocked when she received a call from a neighbour informing her that her house was “basically gone”.

Keah, her partner Jamie, and their two young sons Joseph and Ronnie, were out at an Easter egg hunt when the fire started.

They have no idea how it began and are devastated at the damage to their home.

The fire has destroyed sentimental belongings from Jamie’s granddad as well as birthday presents for the boys’ upcoming birthdays which were bought only a few days ago.

“The boys have lost all the childhood things that they’ve had since the first day they were born,” Keah told KentOnline.

“They both have additional needs and were very unsettled last night. My friend has managed to find a duplicate of their teddy and their blanket.”

The brigade said the cause of the fire is not yet known.

Jamie had been at the property just 10 minutes before the fire broke out to check on their Rottweiler, five-year-old Roxy.

Thankfully, Roxy managed to open a window and let herself out.

The family said she has been found “hurt but alive”.

She’s since been seen by specialists at the People’s Dispensary for Sick Animals, given medication and is being monitored.

The family are staying with Keah’s sister while they get back on their feet.

An emergency GoFundMe page has been started to provide donations for the family, with over £1,000 already raised.

The local community has also begun collecting toys, clothing and dog supplies.

Keah said: “I don’t expect anything; this is more than I could even ask for. It will help with even the simple things like food shopping.”
