Eight bedroom home for sale for just £375,000 – because it is two doors from where Fred and Rose West buried their victims

An eight bedroom home is on the market for just £375,000 because it is just two doors from Fred and Rose West’s infamous ‘house of horrors’.

The three-storey townhouse on a quiet street in Gloucester appears very unassuming from the outside.

It features eight bedrooms, two kitchens and three showers as well as a small garden out the back with off-road parking.

On the market for just £375,000, after £50,000 was shaved off the guide price, any buyer has the potential to turn a profit should they decide to convert the 1,394 sq ft house into flats.

However, there is a reason why the house is on sale for such a bargain.

As just two doors down is a small paved alley where Fred and Rose West’s old home stood in which the couple carried out many of their murders, with nine of the victims buried in the garden and cellar of the now-demolished home.

The murderous couple killed at least 12 girls and young women and were arrested in 1994.

Fred, 53, hanged himself in his cell just weeks before his trial in 1995.

Rose, now 72, was convicted of 10 murders and is serving a life sentence.

The property was demolished in October 1996 by Gloucester City Council to prevent it becoming a disturbing tourism attraction.

The property is being sold by estate agents Keller Williams and is on Rightmove.

And, unsurprisingly, the listing makes no mention of the house’s close proximity to where the Wests committed such evil.

But estate agent Adam Clegg said its infamous location has been ‘factored into the price.’

Similar properties in the city can go for £525,000.

The description of the house reads: The property comprises seven bedrooms across the main house, with two reception rooms, kitchen, and shower room on the ground floor.

‘Plus a cellar offering further potential living space. Upstairs features five additional bedrooms and two shower rooms across the first and second floors.

‘At the rear, a self-contained studio flat benefits from its own private garden and entrance, offering additional income or flexible accommodation.’

It added that the property was previously listed as a house in multiple occupation and has been freshly painted and fresh carpets added but it does require ‘refurbishment to fully realise its potential’.

The house also has ‘excellent transport links’ including Gloucester bus station and train station which has direct services to London.

They estimate it could make £4,500 per month if it was rented out.
