THIS is the horrifying moment a gunman armed with an AK-47 opens fire in a supermarket in front of terrified shoppers and staff.
Heart-stopping footage showed the rifle-wielding shooter letting his weapon loose – before stunned bystanders ran for their lives.
Astonishingly, no one was hurt during the frightening ordeal.
Police in the Russian-occupied Donetsk region of Ukraine “risked their lives” by rushing to the scene.
Cops managed to eventually overpower and arrest the brazen shooter.
An employee said: “People ran to the exit, I also rushed out and fled into a utility room.
“The sounds [of gunshots] kept repeating.”
Another cowering sales assistant said: “The police officers arrived very quickly and managed to disarm this man.
“And then, in fact, they sorted out the situation.
“And only after that we were called and told that we could go out.”
The man is understood to have shot not at people – but rather at the shelves in the supermarket.
In the tense footage, he is seen firing in the alcohol section and near the shelves next to spaghetti, rice and sugar.
The gunman is soon after confronted by cops who run towards him near the vegetable counter.
He chucks down the AK-47 before being detained.
Police said shop employees pressed a panic button, which alerted authorities to the scene of the harrowing ordeal.
Cops arrived and were soon able to neutralise the suspect.
A police spokesperson said: “One of the officers opened fire on the attacker with a pistol, then ran towards him and was able to disarm him.”
It was unclear what injuries the shooter sustained or if he was hit.
He was later seen tied to a chair in the aftermath of the bizarre shoot-up which happened on Christmas Day.
The Putin-appointed puppet ruler of Donetsk, Denis Pushilin, awarded bravery medals to cops who “distinguished themselves in the capture of the criminal”.
