Browsing new-season drops is always a risky pastime – at least for my bank balance.
The high street is seriously impressing for autumn/winter, with standout collections from Boden, M&S, John Lewis and Jaeger.
But one brand firmly deserving the spotlight right now? Jigsaw – long-loved by royalty, including the Princess of Wales, the Duchess of Edinburgh and Princess Beatrice.
Kate has been spotted wearing Jigsaw countess times, most recently choosing the brand’s iconic Maxi City coat for a September engagement. A perennial bestseller, it returns every season thanks to its timeless cut, impeccable tailoring and enduring appeal.
And who could forget the charming bow accessory she added to her red coat at the 2024 Christmas carol service?
There’s also a sentimental thread for the Princess: she once worked at Jigsaw as an accessories buyer before marrying Prince William.
Today, the brand remains a leader in British high street style – and this season’s offering proves exactly why.
Think luxury knitwear, investment-worthy leather and polished party pieces with staying power. Prices do sit above average, but you’re investing in forever wardrobe foundations, not fast fashion.
One of the standout looks for the festive months is the burgundy velvet trouser suit: a longline blazer with a satin shawl collar and flattering flared trousers.
Princess Beatrice previously wore last year’s version in teal, styling it with one of the brand’s slip skirts – a piece she has repeated on four occasions since. I snapped up last year’s version myself, and can confirm the quality is exceptional.
This year’s cut is even more refined, and just as versatile – pair it with the matching trousers, a midi skirt or sleek denim for endless compliments.
Another favourite is the Farringdon coat, not dissimilar to Kate’s signature Jigsaw outerwear. In rich khaki wool with clean lines, it promises effortless polish over both casual and tailored looks.
And for classic knitwear lovers, the Halo cashmere Fair Isle jumper delivers modern heritage charm with a cosy funnel neck and cloud-soft texture – you won’t want to take it off.
Jigsaw’s knitwear, in fact, is exceptional this season, with chic scarf detailing emerging as a house signature across jumpers, dresses and outerwear. Plus, their knitted triangle scarves add instant luxury to any ensemble.
For eveningwear, Duchess Sophie would look exquisite in the romantic floral satin midi dress, created in a rich chocolate tone with statement sleeves and a skimming fit.
Or the elegant long sleeve bias dress, with fluid sheer sleeves and subtle ruffle trim -perfect with slingback heels for events or suede boots for refined daytime style.
Elsewhere, party-season heroes include a feather-trimmed black cardigan (stunning with the leather mini skirt), and a dazzling silver sequin T-shirt and matching midi skirt for those who love a head-turning moment.
Jigsaw is having a serious style triumph this season – and these pieces prove why it remains a royal-approved wardrobe staple.
