THE Trump administration has slammed “anti-semitic” and “disturbing” Jeremy Corbyn for interfering in the New York mayoral race – warning it had strained relations with the United States.
The disgraced ex-Labour boss was branded “an anti-semitic foreign leader” by US Assistant Attorney General Harmeet Dhillon who warned the independent MP may have broken the law by attempting to sway US voters by phone canvassing for his fellow lefty Zohran Mandami.
And she warned the UK that “to use a British phrase, it isn’t cricket” adding “it does impair our great relationship between the two countries.”
Ms Dhillion also argued Corbyn’s notorious views would land badly in America, hitting out that “he famously called Hamas and Hezbollah friends, that’s terrifying to Jews and others who live in New York, who lived through 9/11.”
“I’m not sure how these folks thought that through, but that imagery is quite disturbing for Americans”, she added.
Hard-left Jez boasted he was campaigning for fellow socialist firebrand Mandami who is favourite to win today’s battle for City Hall in New York.
Urging New Yorkers to get the controversial left-winger “over the finish line”, Corbyn hosted a phone banking event he claimed was paid for by Mandami’s campaign.
But Ms Dhillon warned such actions could fall foul of strict US election laws and jeopardised the special relationship between the UK and America.
She told Harry Cole Saves the West, branding it an “open admission that a foreign leader, an anti semitic foreign leader, is actively campaigning for somebody in the United States.”
She added: “So our laws are pretty strict on these issues. They say that, generally speaking, any foreign contributions are prohibited…But what is unclear here is the extent to which Jeremy Corbyn is being compensated for his services.”
Warning of possible sanctions, the Assistant Attorney General continued: “Fines would certainly be something that could be levied by our federal officials… And so all of this usually shakes out once a year after the election.”
Mr Corbyn’s intervention had already lit up the tense New York battle with second place independent Andrew Cuomo blasting: “Having Jeremy Corbyn — someone whose party was found to have committed unlawful acts of discrimination against Jewish people under his leadership — phone-banking for Zohran Mamdani says everything you need to know.”
Meanwhile Texas Senator Ted Cruz hit out; “Foreign interference: A British antisemite supporting an NYC antisemite … Communists of the world unite!”
