I played some of the horror-themed games featured on Sun Bingo this Halloween season.
It might be a controversial statement but I’m not afraid to say it, Halloween is the best time of the year.

It’s at the heart of autumn, which is the best season thanks to cozy jumpers, pumpkin spice lattes and the beautiful leaf colours.
It can be anything you want, from family-friendly spooks to 18-rated horror.
Also, it’s a celebration of creativity with costumes, pumpkin carving and home decorating.
Sun Bingo clearly shares that love as they’ve dedicated a whole page to the Halloween and horror-themed slot games you can play. Here, you’ll find plenty of boo-tiful slots to make you scream (with delight).

For this edition of Keep Up With Katrina, I took my usual £10 budget and dedicated it to playing the horror-themed games featured on this new page.
Was it a hair-raising experience? Witch games added to my winnings pot? Did I have a fang-tastic time?
Let’s see how I got on…
The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live
My first horror-themed slot was The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Lived. Now, here’s another (potentially) controversial confession: I have never seen The Walking Dead.
WE HOST 40 GAMES OF FREE BINGO EVERY DAY
This could explain why I was left underwhelmed by the game. There may have been references and Easter eggs that went over my head but as an impartial player, I didn’t think the game was as strong as those around it.
It has a promising start, with a quick video montage and a background of zombies standing in front of a desolate city. There’s also some bleak music to add to the player’s sensory experience.
However, it would have been nice to have had music during the game play itself. In addition, the imagery is flat and static, which feels like a missed opportunity.
CHECK OUT THESE EERIE BALL CALLS FOR HALLOWEEN
Even when I spun in a winning payline, the lack of celebration from the game, added to the already morbid background, made me indifferent to what should have been an exciting moment.
When there are so many other horror-themed slots working hard to leave the player impressed and entertained, I’m not sure this game does enough to stand out.
Halloween Wins 2
Now, for players looking for a good horror-themed slot, this is more like it. You’re taken into a haunted house where inanimate objects start to shake by themselves before a ghost like something straight out of Ghostbusters flies directly towards you.
HOW TO TRIGGER THE AGE OF THE GODS: GOD OF STORMS JACKPOT
It’s a meeting of old-school horror (harpsichord and theremin music excellently setting the eerie scene) with traditional imagery such as ghosts, black cats and spooky carriages, and contemporary elements to the genre.
Those who watch Wednesday will recognise ‘The Hand’ as Thing.
This 50-payline horror-themed slot kept up the momentum as the game played out, with a soundtrack that included wolf howls and ghostly moans.
During my session, I encountered both the Dracula Respin feature and the Pumpkin Wild bonus. In the Dracula feature, a large version of the king of vampires appears across the central column.
DO YOU KNOW HOW TO PLAY DYNAMITE DIGGER?
This triggers a respin on the other reels.
Then, when I bagged a wild pumpkin, a 4x multiplier was added to my win line, meaning that I won £2.40 on a £1 bet.
All in all, this game would make a very entertaining addition to any horror-themed slot session.

Slingo Day of the Dab
Among the horror-themed slots featured on this page, players will also spot a slingo game.
A top option is Slingo Day of the Dab, a thoroughly entertaining game based on the Mexican tradition of Dia De Los Muertos (Day of the Dead).
The imagery is cartoonish and colourful, with candles, skulls, flowers and offerings to the departed scattered across the forefront. This is accompanied by a great use of cheerful mariachi-style music.
GOT ANY WEEKEND PLANS YET? CHECK OUT THESE SPONTANEOUS SUGGESTIONS
Where The Walking Dead didn’t do enough to celebrate wins, here they set off confetti, celebration sounds and completed slingos create fireworks!
This game also allows you to start winning cash from your second completed slingo, which is more generous than most slingos that require three lines before the cash wins start.
One drawback would be that you only get five spins rather than the customary 10 spins.
However, that is probably due to the ripple effect that each spin can create. What this means is that when you dab off one number, a colourful skull appears below it. Then, every square immediately touching that one (but not diagonals) reveals their own skulls.

If the skulls match the original, they are dabbed as well. This continues until there are no more colour matches. It allows one spin to have a huge effect. For instance, in my game, one spin dabbed off seven squares!
So, when you are playing the horror-themed slots at Sun Bingo, don’t forget that there are some wickedly fun slingo offerings as well.
What could you win?

WOULD YOU SURVIVE A SHARKNADO?
As for me, I had a great winnings pot of £10.06 after I played the horror-themed slots; all I needed now was an equally great way to spend it.
To honour the game that contributed the most to my pot, I choose this devilishly handsome decor:
- Hand-painted skull tea light holder with Day of the Dead designs – £9.95
Whether you like your Halloween spooky, scary or horrifying, make sure you get your horror-themed slot fun at Sun Bingo.
