A FORMER X Factor star has shared concerning news that she’s holed up in hospital following mystery surgery.
The ex reality TV star and Happy Mondays singer told followers about the ‘last minute’ stay.
Keeping her health cards close to her chest, The X Factor legend Rowetta posted a picture of herself on a ward wearing red Manchester United pyjamas.
She captioned it: “Sorry for not replying to everyone’s texts, calls and messages.
“I’ve been transferred from Trafford to St Mary’s (who have been wonderful) this morning, so hopefully home tomorrow.”
Striking a pose in a hospital gown in bed, wearing dark glasses and attached to a drip, the performer wrote: “Big love and thanks to St Mary’s for stepping in last minute.
“Came out of surgery smiling. What a wonderful team.
“Back on the ward now, morphined up for the pain, but – all went well, home tomorrow and should be good to sing again next week.”
In 2023, the star worried fans with pictures from her hospital bed before surgery – telling them ‘see you on the other side’.
In 2004 she appeared on The X Factor and featured in the over 25s category, before being eliminated at the quarter-final stage of the show.
Rowetta’s performances on The X Factor earned her glowing reviews and she ended up finishing fourth and was the last woman in the competition.
On the programme Rowetta was described by her mentor Simon Cowell as: “Amazing, but barking b***** mad.”
Last year, she quit the Happy Mondays after 35 years culminating in a furious public row.
The backing singer previously claimed frontman Shaun Ryder “punched her”.
The singer joined the Manchester group in 1990 and featured on single Step On, which got to number five in the UK charts.
She was with the Happy Mondays for three of their world tours and featured on their third and fourth albums, Pills ‘n’ Thrills and Bellyaches and Yes Please!.
When the band reformed in 2012, Rowetta joined original members including Shaun Ryder and Bez, as they embarked on a reunion tour.
The statement on Instagram read: “Happy Mondays and Rowetta announce that Rowetta will no longer be performing with the band.
“Happy Mondays thank Rowetta for her services and wish her all the best for the future.”
Before joining the Happy Mondays Rowetta was a fixture on the Manchester music scene, and featured as a backing singer on Simply Red’s 1991 album Stars.
