Wycombe release shock statement as ‘missile’ thrown at referee seconds after Fulham tie in Carabao Cup

A MISSILE thrown at the end of Fulham’s Carabao Cup win at Wycombe hit an assistant referee.

Wycombe confirmed an official was struck by the object thrown from the stands.

The club has opened an investigation into the incident to find the person responsible.

A Wycombe statement read: “Wycombe Wanderers are disappointed to report that a missile was thrown from the terrace, striking an assistant referee, following the conclusion of tonight’s Carabao Cup tie.

“The club strongly condemns this behaviour and is working to identify the individual responsible.”

The assistant referee was hit by the missile following the full-time whistle.
