WWE legend Trish Stratus says she was punished by the company after refusing to take part in a kissing scene.
The Canadian wrestler, who was inducted into WWE’s Hall of Fame in 2013, opened up about it recently on the Pod Meets World podcast.
She revealed how she once turned down a pitch she felt was out of her character.
Stratus – who is still stunning fans at 49 – said bosses wanted her to kiss another woman as part of a WWE angle, but she outright refused.
She said: “There was one time I flat out said ‘no,’ It involved me kissing another girl. And I was like, ‘Hmm, I don’t understand. Why would… no. Just, nope.’
“I’m like, ‘I don’t think my character would do that, or myself.’ So yeah, I didn’t do that. But then I got stripped of the belt right away. It was crazy.”
Hall of Famer Stratus won eight belts in her career – seven WWE Women’s Championships and one WWE Hardcore Championship.
While she didn’t go into too much specific detail about other situations, she gave insight into what would happen when an action request from the WWE was followed by a refusal.
It became clear that this response would always be some kind of punishment.

However, she claims she always stood firm on her decisions.
Stratus added: “There was some crazy scenarios.
“There’s so many people backstage, there’s all these producers, writers. And it kind of like, I was like, ‘Is this happening because… it sure is.’ And I was like, ‘All right, wow.’
“Well, that’s OK. I still stand by my decision.’”
Her diplomatic character however, was forged by offering an alternative when she did say no.
Stratus revealed: “I understood that if you were to say no, that it was like say ‘No, but…’ So I’d be like, ‘I’m not doing that, but how about we…?’
“I wanted to make sure ‘I can get there, but let’s do it this way.’
“So I got away with a lot of stuff. If I didn’t wanna do it, I said ‘no’ to it and got away with my suggestion or alternative way of approaching the same sort of outcome.”
