Xiao Guodong clinched last year’s title by beating Si Jiahui 10-7 in a thrilling showpiece match.

But the Chinese superstar will need to fight tooth and nail if he is to retain his crown in Wuhan with the biggest names in the business featuring.

Judd Trump is one of the household names set to participate, and the World No 1 will be desperate to bounce back from his fifth-round exit in last week’s Saudi Arabia Masters.

But snooker legend Ronnie O’Sullivan will not feature as he has pulled out due to medical reasons.
