More Moody
Stan Moody sadly went crashing out in the quarter-final stage, but his story is incredible.
He is born in Halifax, West Yorkshire, and is one of the brightest young talents coming through in the sport of snooker.
While playing Mark Allen in an exhibition match at Cue Gardens in Bradford, a member of staff there was so impressed with Moody’s cue action the he nicknamed him ‘The Action’.
In 2021 Stan told EPSB: “It was Robbie Watson from The Ambassadors of the Green Baize who gave me the nickname when he watched me play in an exhibition with Mark Allen after he had not long since won the Masters in 2018.
“I think he was impressed with my cue action and said that I was ‘The Action’.”
Stan won first match at a professional tournament while competing as an amateur at the 2022 Shoot Out.
At the tender age of 15, Moody recorded a 53-27 win against Lu Ning to reach the second round, where he lost to Oliver Lines.
What is the Ding curse?
For those who are wondering what the Ding curse is, SunSport’s Katherine Walsh breaks it down superbly.
Stan Moody should be proud for breaking it.
Ding ding ding
The Wuhan Open has been nothing short of thrilling and we have even seen the Ding curse get broken!
Stan Moody broke the Ding curse after achieving the biggest win of his career.
The 18-year-old snooker sensation, who has earned comparisons to darts star Luke Littler.
He did so in emphatic style, thrashing Zhou Yuelong.
Breaking back
Disgraced snooker player Stephen Lee has returned to the table following a 12-year ban from competition.
The Wiltshire native, 50, received the ban in 2013 when he was found guilty of match fixing.
And SunSport’s Mitchell Hall can reveal what his first game back was.
Allen 2 Wilson 6 – WILSON WINS
The pink just simply wouldn’t drop in that final frame but Wilson who is in tremendous form pocked it and booked his spot in the final.
It now means that Wilson has the chance to win his first title outside of the UK.
But he goes up against defending champ Guodong who is looking to make it three titles in his last four outings.
And a Guodong who comfortably beat Williams in the earlier semi-final.
What a match that promises to be!
