ANA MARIA MARKOVIC has sealed a shock transfer to the US, where she will play alongside her own sister.
Ana Maria, 25, has impressed on the pitch as well as being lauded as the ‘world’s most beautiful footballer’.
Now her on-field efforts have earned her a move Stateside after spending her entire career to date playing in Europe.
Ana Maria has joined USL Super League team Brooklyn FC.
Brooklyn are about to embark on their second season in the newly-founded USL Super League, which shares its status as the top flight of US women’s football alongside the NWSL.
The New York City club announced ahead of the new campaign that they have signed both Ana Maria AND her sister Kiki.
Kiki, 24, arrives from FC Rapperswil‑Jona in the Swiss Women’s Super League.
While Ana Maria has joined after a spell with Portuguese top flight side Damainese, who she joined earlier this year after cancelling her contract with Braga.
Speaking on signing for Brooklyn, Ana Maria said: “Signing with Brooklyn FC is an exciting step for me.
“I’ve played in incredible places, but I can already feel the energy around this club and city.
“Sharing this experience with my sister makes it even more special, and we’re both here to make an impact on the field.”
While Kiki added: “We’ve been training and competing together our whole lives, and playing side by side in Brooklyn is a dream come true.
“I can’t wait to fight for this team, connect with the fans, and contribute everything I can to our second season.”
Both Ana Maria and Kiki have earned international caps for Croatia as well as their club level exploits.
While the pair are onto big things away from the pitch too.
Ana Maria boats an incredible THREE MILLION Instagram followers on an account in which she shares her updates from her personal life and her football.
Kiki has a more modest 18,900 followers on the platform, but is still regularly sharing updates for her fans.
And the sisters have also started up their own business together, a Swiss vegan protein water brand called RELOADZ.
