ROY KEANE has slammed the Manchester United squad and singled out the lack of effort from defender Diogo Dalot.
United fell to a 2-1 defeat on the road against Aston Villa on Sunday thanks to two screamers from Morgan Rogers.
The threadbare United side never got off the ground at Villa Park, holding on almost until the half-time break before Rogers cut inside from the left and unleashed a beautiful curling strike into the top right corner.
Matheus Cunha drew the Red Devils level after Matty Cash was dispossessed at the back just three minutes later.
But United were again slow to react to Rogers coming inside from Dalot’s right flank, and were again punished accordingly.
United legend Roy Keane was left unimpressed by the work ethic of the team, and accused Dalot in particular of shirking his defensive duties.
Keane ranted: “You can have all the talent in the world, but we mention it time and time again, you’ve got to roll your sleeves up.
“When the game gets a bit tired, or those moments, you go, ‘I’m going to do my bit for the team.’ There’s too many players like Dalot, who just don’t do enough.
“I won’t use the word ‘cheating’ but they’re not doing enough.”
The team’s energy levels have not been helped by an availability crisis at Old Trafford.

United are missing players through injury, suspension and international commitments, with Amad, Noussair Mazraoui and Bryan Mbeumo all departing the club to participate in the Afcon this month.
But that did not stop Keane from going in on Dalot for both goals, with the Portuguese full-back unable to keep up with Villa’s electric attack.
He said: “I look at Dalot, for the second goal, the intensity or the desire to stop a cross…”
He clearly lays some of the blame for the result at the 26-year-old’s door, adding: “After the game, I’d be looking at him, I wouldn’t be looking at the other bits, I’d be asking him, ‘are you going to stop him?’
“Same with the first goal when Rogers gets the ball wide, we’re all sitting there, we know there’s danger. Do they not know there’s danger?”
