Woman pushed to floor and sexually assaulted by man while walking her dog in park as cops launch urgent hunt

COPS have launched an urgent manhunt after a woman was pushed to the floor and sexually assaulted while walking her dog.

The shocking attack happened in Shrewsbury, Shropshire on Saturday, January 10, police said.

West Mercia Police said the woman was walking her dog in Abbey Gardens at around 9.30pm when she was pushed to the floor and sexually assaulted.

The suspect, an unknown male, then fled toward the entrance to the park at the junction of English Bridge and Abbey Foregate, the force added.

The man is described as wearing dark clothing, possibly with a padded jacket or similar. He was of larger build and taller than 5 ft 6 inches.

He is said to have spoken with a Wolverhampton or Telford accent.

The victim is being supported by specially trained officers with any witnesses to the attack urged to come forward.

Detective Constable Adam Butler said: “We know this incident will be concerning, and we would like to reassure our communities we are carrying out a full investigation to find the suspect. The woman is being supported by specialist trained officers.

“We would urge anyone who was in the park on Saturday evening at around 9.30pm or who has any information to support our investigation to please get in touch.”
