An 18-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of raping a woman in broad daylight as police search for two boys who may have been witnesses.
Police are searching for two boys who they believe could have seen the alleged sexual assault in the quiet village of Uffculme at around 3.40pm on Friday, April 18.
Officers said the pair were cycling on a bridge or footpath near Bridge Street between 3.30 and 3.45pm but had left the scene before police arrived.
The force has since arrested an 18-year-old man from Tiverton on suspicion of rape, sexual assault on a female and malicious communications.
He has been released on bail until July pending further enquiries.
