COPS have launched an urgent appeal after a teenager was allegedly raped on a night out in a popular seaside town.
The victim was reportedly attacked while out with pals in Brighton, East Sussex, last weekend.
Police were informed of the alleged attack on Saturday, September 20.
Witnesses who may have seen or spoken to the victim on Queen’s Road over the course of the night have been urged to come forward.
Officers are looking to speak with two individuals, an e-scooter rider and a woman, who were also in the city centre.
They are believed to have checked on the welfare of the victim between Friday night and the early hours of Saturday.
Detective Inspector Matt Stevens said: “This is a fast-moving and complex investigation.
“We are keen to trace people who may have interacted with the victim while she was in Brighton.
“We believe some members of the public stopped to check on her welfare in the centre of Brighton. We are keen to speak with them.
“We urge anyone with information to come forward.”
Sussex Police confirmed the victim is a woman in her late teens, who cannot be identified for legal reasons.
She is receiving support from specially-trained officers.
In a statement, the force said: “Police investigating a report of rape are appealing for further witnesses to come forward.
“The incident was reported to police on 20 September, after the victim had been on a night out with friends in Brighton.
“Officers are keen to trace witnesses who may have seen or spoken to the victim in Queen’s Road in central Brighton late on Friday, 19 September into the early hours of 20 September.
“Information can be reported to Sussex Police online, or by calling 101, and quoting serial 386 of 20/09.“
