
A YOUNG woman is fighting for her life in hospital after being stabbed.
Police rushed to the scene in Oldham, Greater Manchester, last night after reports of an assault.
Officers found a woman in her 20s at an address in Greenwood Street at around 10.40pm with serious injuries, consistent with a stabbing.
She remains in hospital in critical condition.
No arrests have been made at this time.
Chief Inspector Ian Partington from our Oldham district said: “This was a shocking incident of violence, and our thoughts remain with the victim at this incredibly difficult time.
“I would like to reassure the community that incidents of this nature are taken extremely seriously and our officers are currently exhausting all lines of enquiry to locate the suspect.
“We understand this is a concerning incident, and we have extra patrols in the area following this incident.
“I encourage anyone with concerns to please speak with our officers who are there to support.
“A scene remains in place and our officers have worked through the night to conduct their investigation.
“I urge anyone who may have witnessed this incident or has dashcam, CCTV or mobile phone from the area at the time to please report to us.”
