A woman has died in a Primark shop after suffering what was described as a medical episode – as police cordoned off the town centre store.
Emergency services were called to the scene in Market Place in Oldham, Greater Manchester, after concerns were reported about the welfare of a woman.
Witnesses reported seeing the area outside the store being cordoned off by officers and that a woman had fallen ill while inside the outlet.
An air ambulance was scrambled to the scene and landed on a car park for a neighbouring Sainsbury’s supermarket.
Paramedics from the North West Ambulance Service also attended, as the woman was treated in front of horrified shoppers.
Greater Manchester Police have now stated that the woman, reportedly aged 60, suffered a medical episode.

She was later pronounced dead. No further details have been released.
A cordon remained in place while emergency crews responded.
There were not thought to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding the death.
