A WOMAN has died after she was hit by a Tesco delivery van in a horror crash with cops arresting the driver.
Emergency services including an air ambulance rushed to the scene in Bangor, Wales, shortly after midday on Monday.
But despite the best efforts of blue light services, the elderly pedestrian was sadly pronounced dead at the scene on Garth Hill.
Her next of kin and the coroner have been told, said North Wales Police.
A 33-year-old delivery van driver has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
North Wales Police said that he remains in police custody.
NWP Roads Policing Unit is now appealing for witnesses and dashcam footage.
The unit was alerted to the collision by the Welsh Ambulance Service shortly after midday.
Garth Road and other surrounding roads were temporarily closed while officers investigated, but have since reopened.
In a statement, Sergeant 3162 Evans of the roads crime unit said: “Our thoughts remain with the woman’s family and friends at this difficult time.
“We would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the collision or who saw the pedestrian or the vehicle in the moments leading up to the incident to contact us as soon as possible.”
