Woman deliberately pushed buggy into path of lorry as cops launch hunt to find her

DETECTIVES are frantically searching for a woman who is alleged to have deliberately pushed a pram into the path of an oncoming lorry.

The horrifying incident happened on Monday along the A16, at the junction with Middlegate Road West, Kirton, Lincolnshire.

When the lorry struck the pram a “white or pink bundle”, that witnesses believed to be a baby, was thrown into the air.

Police and paramedics scrambled to the scene conducted extensive searches using drones.

Thankfully, it was concluded that there was no baby in the buggy and no pram was found at the scene.

Officers are now appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward.

Lincolnshire Police have identified the driver and spoken with him and is desperately trying to track down the woman.

She is described as being in her twenties, wearing a three-quarter length brown jacket and trousers.

It is believed the woman was walking along Middlegate Road West, Kirton, and made as if to cross the A16 to Middlegate Road East toward Frampton.

So far investigators have conducted house to house, CCTV, and dashcam enquiries. 

The force said: “This was naturally a very distressing incident for those involved and we would like to identify and speak with the woman concerned to make sure that she is ok as we are concerned for her welfare.

“If you have not yet spoken to officers and believe you may have information that could help our investigation, please get in touch. “
