THE Friday night Premier League clash between Wolves and Aston Villa was STOPPED as the referee mysteriously ran down the tunnel.
Match official Craig Pawson was seen running off the park and inside just before the 69th minute before returning over two minutes later.
Both sets of players stood around waiting to see what was going on before the whistler re-emerged, tucking in his shirt.
It was suggested there had maybe been an issue with his ear piece.
But fans watching on at home and in the ground thought they knew the real reason.
As Pawson ran back onto the pitch in the torrential rain after the almost three-minute delay, supporters in Molineux chanted “he’s had a s***”.
While fans on their sofas couldn’t resist mocking the ref on social media.
One wrote: “Never see a game stopped for the referee to go have a s*** 😂.”
Another quipped: “Pawson pretending he had tech issues. He just had to shit lmao.”
A third joked: “So disappointing that the fans didn’t sing, Craig Pawson s**** when he wants.”
While one Wolves fan was livid when he saw how much stoppage time was added at the end, ranting: “7 minutes stoppage time is ridiculous considering the referee was off for 4 minutes having a shit…”
Joao Gomes and namesake Rodrigo Gomes grabbed the goals for bottom club Wolves as a 2-0 win put a major dent in Aston Villa’s Champions League hopes.
Unai Emery’s men went into the match in third spot and looking to strengthen their position in the race for Europe’s top table.
But Wolves picked up just a SECOND win of the season at Molineux.
After handing Arsenal a title blow, they’ve now issued another hit at the top end of the table, this time to Villa.

It means a Manchester United win this weekend could see them leapfrog Emery and Co in the table.
Liverpool and Chelsea can also close the gap to just three points as the top four race takes yet another twist heading into the final 10 games.
Villa face two huge matches in the league following this defeat against both Chelsea and Manchester United.
They come either side of a Europa League away day in France at Lille.
