‘Without a doubt’ – Peter Crouch labels Tottenham ‘worst team in the Premier League’ after horror Crystal Palace loss

PETER CROUCH has blasted Tottenham as the “worst team in the Premier League” after they fell to a 3-1 defeat to Crystal Palace.

Tensions were high at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium last night, with supporters knowing their team sat just one point above the relegation zone after a win for West Ham and a draw for Nottingham Forest.

Spurs were handed an early warning by the visitors when Ismaila Sarr saw a goal ruled out for offside before they went down the other end and scored through Dominic Solanke.

However, just four minutes later, the evening took a dramatic turn for the worse as Micky van de Ven was sent off for the denial of a goalscoring opportunity and conceded a penalty, Sarr stepping up for the equaliser.

The night only got worse from there, as Igor Tudor watched his brittle team collapse in first-half injury time as they let in goals from Jørgen Strand Larsen and Sarr, with the match ending 3-1 after a goalless second half.

Boos rang out at half-time, and were repeated at the full-time whistle as the home supporters were left dumbstruck after watching their team crash and burn to an 11th winless league game and fifth defeat on the bounce – records they have not managed since 1935 and 2004 respectively.

Former Spurs ace Crouch was watching the game as a pundit for TNT Sports, and likewise couldn’t believe what he was seeing.

Asked if Spurs were the worst team in the Prem at the minute, the 45-year-old said: “I think since Christmas, in 2026 it’s proven that is the case, so yes is the honest answer.

“Wolves have picked up a little bit, you know [they’re] bottom of the league. Teams around them, West Ham picking up points, Nottingham Forest [too].

“Spurs at the moment, form-wise, are without doubt are the worst in the league.”

Interim manager Igor Tudor insisted the team were heading in the right direction despite defeat, although he had a tense moment in his post-match broadcast interview as he refused to speak about pressure before abruptly ending it.

Crouch, who played for the Spurs senior team between 2009 and 2011, continued: “Palace were a better side for me before the game with 11 men, going player for player.

“There’s not many players I take from Tottenham’s team and put in Palace’s, and goes down to recruitment, it’s been poor for a couple of windows now.

“I look at the pitch now, and there’s a distinct lack of quality and lack of characters, and that combination can get you relegated.”

Things are not going to get any easier for Spurs
