Rick Edwards has been on a scheduled break from his BBC Radio 5 Live Breakfast show since Thursday, March 5, with his last appearance coming the day before.
The veteran presenter remains a lead host on the station and has not left the show – his temporary absence is nothing out of the ordinary.
Presenters on breakfast duties routinely take short breaks throughout the year, with colleagues stepping in to take over the slot for a short while.
It is not the first time listeners have been left wondering where he has got to.

Back in early 2023, Rick took around a month off after the birth of his son with wife and Eastenders star Emer Kenny.
On his return to the breakfast show, Rick told co-presenter Rachel Burden that he and Kenny had welcomed a baby boy.
When is Rick Edwards returning to Radio 5 Live?
Rick is due back on the Breakfast show on Monday, March 30, 2026.
His return to the 5 Live schedule has been confirmed, and it comes a couple of days earlier.
He will be hosting the popular Fighting Talk sports panel show on Saturday, March 28.
Rick has built up an extensive broadcasting portfolio over the years, covering the UK Athletics Championships, Wimbledon, World Cup and Euros for the station.
He and Rachel relaunched the 5 Live Breakfast together in November 2021 after Nicky Campbell moved to a later slot.
