Why are Harry Kane, Bukayo Saka and Declan Rice not playing for England vs Uruguay?

After the announcement of the 35-man squad, Tuchel said to “get the best out of this camp” a decision was made to split it in two.

Eleven players will not link up with the squad until after tonight’s friendly against Uruguay.

The 11 players that will join late are: Dean Henderson, Dan Burn, Marc Guehi, Ezri Konsa, Nico O’Reilly, Elliot Anderson, Declan Rice, Morgan Rogers, Anthony Gordon, Harry Kane and Bukayo Saka.

On the decision to allow the aforementioned players an extended break, Tuchel said: “These guys have played 3,500 minutes, some 4,000 minutes.

“More important than the pure number of minutes is some of these guys have played more minutes than the whole of last season.

“All of these players have contributed in September, October and November.

“They have credit with me. To give them a break mentally and physically, we will benefit from it.”

Tuchel added: “And then from Friday and Saturday, a new group of players will come into the camps, will get a rest before, and we will go with a new mix of players into the match against Japan.”
