Who’s the biggest loser in the showbiz fat jab league? CLAUDIA CONNELL reveals the stars who have shed the most pounds through Ozempic… and the ones in denial

One of us is a retired elite athlete with a £220million fortune, the other lives on her overdraft and can barely haul herself out of a chair without groaning.

Yes, it’s fair to say that, on the surface, Serena Williams and I don’t have much in common.

However, something we do share is that we’ve both used Mounjaro to shed the flab. Williams recently admitted to losing 31lb in eight months, while I lost 45lb in six months – the only time I’ll ever thrash her at anything.

And while there are dozens of newly trim celebrities that won’t admit to using GLP-1 drugs, some have come clean.

So, with a vested interest, here’s my Celebrity Fat Jab League…

THE GRAND SLAM SLIMMER

At the peak of her career, Serena Williams, winner of 23 Grand Slam titles, weighed 11st
But the tennis star revealed last month that she has shed 2st 2lb thanks to the use of Zepbound

Tennis star Serena Williams lost 2st 3lb, thanks to Zepbound (an alternative brand name for Mounjaro), dubbed the King Kong of weight-loss jabs

Serena Williams, winner of 23 Grand Slam titles, revealed last month that she has shed 2st 2lb thanks to the use of Zepbound (an alternative brand name for Mounjaro), dubbed the King Kong of weight-loss jabs.

Serena, 43, says she struggled with her weight after the birth of her daughters Olympia, eight, and Adira, two.

‘I was never able to get to the weight I needed to be, no matter what I did, no matter how much I trained,’ she said.

In January this year she started jabbing and now says: ‘I feel really good and healthy. I feel light physically and mentally.’

Just like me, Serena says her joints no longer ache and she loves seeing the number going down on the scales. Unlike me, she does gruelling daily workouts and calls her home gym her ‘favourite place to be’.

At the peak of her career the 5ft 9in star weighed 11st. She hasn’t revealed her heaviest or current weight, but recent pictures on her Instagram page show a tiny waist and washboard abs.

As for any price rises, Serena needn’t worry. As good fortune would have it, her husband Alexis Ohanian is an investor in Ro, a company that distributes Zepbound, so chances are she nets a nice little discount.

WHO SHRANK MRS OSBOURNE?

TV celeb Sharon Osborne lost 4st: in 2022, she started injecting Ozempic, admitting she spent the first few weeks ‘throwing up and feeling sh*t’

While other celebrities credit drinking water and sleep for their curiously youthful looks, Sharon Osbourne, 72, has always been refreshingly honest about her cosmetic surgeries – and the same applies when it comes to her dramatic weight loss.

‘People who don’t have to worry about weight have no idea what it’s like,’ Mrs O recently said, adding: ‘At one point I was 230lb (16st 4lb).’

She had gastric band surgery in 1999, but started to gain weight after having the band removed in 2006. In 2022, she started injecting Ozempic and dropped 4st in just four months, admitting she spent the first few weeks ‘throwing up and feeling sh*t’.

While many dieters start to pile the weight back on once they stop jabbing, the opposite happened with Sharon, who says the drug messed with her metabolism, leaving her unable to gain weight.

At 5ft 2in, the TV star is now just over 7st and has caused concern with her frail appearance and gaunt ‘Ozempic face’. Even she admits: ‘I took it too far.’

IT’S ALL ABOUT THE FAT JABS

American singer Meghan Trainor in 2020
The pop star lost 4st after going on Mounjaro last year

American singer Meghan Trainor lost 4st after going on Mounjaro last year because ‘more and more of our friends and even our doctors were on it’

American singer Meghan Trainor shot to fame thanks to her track All About That Bass, containing lyrics that championed curvy figures and mocked skinny model types.

‘My momma, she told me don’t worry about your size / she says boys like a little more booty to hold at night…’ she sang.

Ten years on and Meghan, 31, is a tiny size eight with new breast implants and might want to consider reworking those lyrics.

A mother to two young sons – Riley, four, and Barry, two – Meghan went on Mounjaro last year because ‘more and more of our friends and even our doctors were on it’, and she has since shed more than 4st.

As for the disappointed fans who think the one-time body positivity champion has sold out, Meghan recently uploaded a video to her 18million Instagram followers where she mouthed: ‘I don’t care if these b*****s don’t like me.’

NO NOSH FOR OPRAH AFTER FOUR O’CLOCK

At her heaviest, 5ft 7in Oprah Winfrey was 16st 9lb
The TV host has acheived the 11st 4lb target she set herself

Oprah Winfrey lost 5st 5lb: the Queen of American daytime TV has finally conquered her weight demons

Looking the slimmest she’s ever been at the Tony Awards this summer, it was clear that Oprah Winfrey, Queen of American daytime TV, had finally conquered her weight demons.

At her heaviest the 5ft 7in star was 16st 9lb. ‘It’s a lot,’ as her pal Meghan Markle might say. But with a little injectable help, she’s achieved the 11st 4lb target she set herself.

Oprah, 71, spent five decades yo-yoing in weight, during which time she says it ‘became public sport to make fun of me’. ‘Dumpy, frumpy and downright lumpy’ screamed one headline. Ouch!

Despite a personal chef and a lucrative endorsement deal with WeightWatchers, Oprah was never able to keep the weight off permanently – until now.

In December 2023, she finally confirmed that she’d been using fat jabs. ‘The fact there’s a medically approved prescription for managing weight and staying healthier, in my lifetime, feels like relief, like redemption, like a gift and not something to hide behind or be ridiculed for,’ she said.

The billionaire media mogul now hikes five miles a day and doesn’t eat past 4pm.

SLOW ROAD TO BRAVING A BIKINI

Gemma Collins shed 2st, going from a size 26 to a 20, and is aiming to eventually be a 16

Gemma Collins shed 2st, going from a size 26 to a 20, and is aiming to eventually be a 16

The GC, as larger-than-life TOWIE star Gemma Collins likes to refer to herself, started taking Mounjaro in January this year and her weight loss has been slow and steady.

She’s shed 2st, going from a size 26 to a 20, and is aiming to eventually be a 16 – something the 44-year-old wants to achieve in order to start IVF treatment with her partner Rami Hawash.

Posing in a skimpy bikini on holiday in Cyprus last month, Gemma said: ‘Darlings, wear the bikini, chase the sunsets, get out and seek adventures.’ However, she has reported an unexpected side-effect, speculating that she’s developing ‘Ozempic face’ where rapid weight loss results in ageing.

In April she posted on her Instagram page, saying: ‘I really don’t know what’s happened to me, it’s just come on me overnight.’

IS SLIMLINE STAR IN DENIAL?

Rebel Wilson lost 5st: the Pitch Perfect star achieved her weight loss by changing her diet

While most of us fat-jabbers are open about using the drugs to lose weight, Aussie actress Rebel Wilson, 45, appears to have a different approach. In 2020 – a period she branded her ‘year of health’ – she went from 15st 7lb to 10st 7lb.

The Pitch Perfect star insists this was achieved by changing her diet. She says she focused on protein, avoided gluten and tried to stick to 1,500 calories a day.

She has since admitted she used Ozempic after losing the weight, which is curious. ‘Someone like me could have a bottomless appetite for sweets, so I think those drugs can be good,’ she said last year, adding that she only used Ozempic when slim, and only for a short time.

Like so many super slimmers before her, Rebel has since regained 30lb. Will she start jabbing again? Only after losing the weight through diet and exercise, naturally…

SKINNY SINGER… WITH SCURVY

Singer Robbie Williams has lost over a stone: his rapid weight loss left him with scurvy due to a lack of Vitamin C

Singer Robbie Williams has lost over a stone: his rapid weight loss left him with scurvy due to a lack of Vitamin C

Shrinking to a size you last were in your 20s? Yes please. Restricting your food intake to the extent you end up contracting a 17th-century ‘pirate disease’? Pass.

That’s what happened to Robbie Williams following his GLP-1 use after years of struggling with his weight (Noel Gallagher once referred to him as ‘the fat dancer from Take That’).

Robbie, 51, revealed that the jab led to such a suppression of appetite and rapid weight loss that he was diagnosed with scurvy due to a lack of vitamin C.

In December 2023, Robbie told an interviewer that, after realising he had ‘type 2 self-loathing’, he turned to what he calls ‘something like Ozempic’, describing it as a ‘Christmas miracle’. The 6ft 1in star added: ‘I’ve gone from 13st 13lb to 12st 1lb.’

But his rapid weight loss clearly came at a cost. From ‘fat dancer’ to ‘scurvy skinny’ singer.

SILICON VALLEY’S OZEMPIC SANTA

After seeing unflattering images of himself on holiday in Greece in 2022, billionaire Elon Musk, 54, turned to fat jabs for help

After seeing unflattering images of himself on holiday in Greece in 2022, billionaire Elon Musk, 54, turned to fat jabs for help

You’d think running around after his 14 children might keep him trim, but apparently not. After seeing unflattering images of himself on holiday in Greece in 2022, billionaire Elon Musk, 54, turned to fat jabs for help.

In October 2022, a follower on X (the social media platform he owns) asked him the secret behind his newly buff body and he replied: ‘Fasting and Wegovy.’

He later revealed the drug ‘made me fart and burp like Bart from The Simpsons’, and that he has since switched to Mounjaro, saying: ‘It seems to have fewer side-effects and be more effective.’

Last December he posted a picture of himself as Father Christmas, captioning it ‘Ozempic Santa’. Place your bets that ‘GLP-1’ will be the name of his next kid.

BOY GEORGE’S MARVEL MEDICINE

‘Anyone who was fat last year and is now skinny is on the wonder drug,’ Boy George wrote in his 2024 book Karma: My Autobiography

‘Anyone who was fat last year and is now skinny is on the wonder drug,’ Boy George wrote in his 2024 book Karma: My Autobiography

Never was a truer word spoken than when Boy George, 64, said: ‘I’m on Mounjaro, isn’t everyone?’

‘Anyone who was fat last year and is now skinny is on the wonder drug,’ he wrote in his 2024 book Karma: My Autobiography. In the book he reveals he lost 7st thanks to diet changes and had a tummy tuck to remove loose skin.

In 2022 he started taking Ozempic to avoid regaining weight, before switching to Mounjaro, which he is thought to still be on.
