Where is The Night Manager 2 filmed? Inside the luxury hotels Tom Hiddleston frequented for hit BBC show

The Night Manager first aired back in 2016 and is adapted from the novel of the same name written by John le Carré, delving into the world of MI6 agent Jonathan Pine.

The much-anticipated second instalment kicked off on New Year’s Day and sees Tom Hiddleston portraying Pine in the BBC thriller, with other stars including Camila Morrone and Olivia Colman.

The first season brought in a whopping 10 million UK viewers and the second is proving to be just as impressive, but where exactly is The Night Manager 2 filmed?

Located in Costa Brava, Spain, Hostal de la Gavina serves as the location for several scenes in the show.

Hiddleston as well as Diego Calva, who plays Teddy Dos Santos, both filmed in the hotel.

The establishment’s tennis courts and some interior spaces were used to recreate the Colombian club, as well as other locations.

It also appeared in a restaurant in the series, as well as meetings. Meanwhile, some of the exterior shots took place in Medellín.

The Medellin Gun Club scenes in particular were shot at Hostal de la Gavina.

Producer Matthew Patnick told Time Out. ‘We used this as the gun club, for the tennis court [where Pine meets Teddy Dos Santos], a restaurant and as hotels.’

‘The actual tennis club is in Medellin but the actual interior is here.’

He revealed how Hiddleston insisted on continuing to play tennis during the rehearsals.

‘We had rehearsals the day before filming and Tom just kept wanting to carry on playing. He really struggled to hit a bad shot,’ Matthew added.

Elsewhere, over in Colombia, one hotel proved to be useful for both filming and housing the crew.

Relais & Châteaux Casa Pestagua, in Cartagena is an 18th-century mansion situated by UNESCO walled city Cartagena de Indias.

Producer Matthew explained how he bought out the entire venue for multiple days to use.

He added: ‘The show is going to change it forever, like the Es Saadi Palace in Marrakech in season one, which is still associated with The Night Manager 10 years later.’

Matthew also revealed to Conde Nast Traveller how he felt about filming in the area.

He explained: ‘I’m really proud of filming in Cartagena because it was a struggle just from a schedule and time perspective.’
