TESCO has revealed the opening hours for its Express stores up and down the nation over the New Year.
So whether you need some last-minute party essentials, or a satisfying sandwich after the big night, here’s everything you need to know.


Tesco Express stores are open on both New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day, but with slightly adjusted hours compared to normal weekdays.
On New Year’s Eve, most Tesco Express branches are expected to open in the morning as usual.
They will then typically close earlier than a standard weekday.
Tesco explained: “Tesco Extra stores and Superstores will close at 7pm, with some variations on the Isle of Man.

“The majority of Express stores will close at 10pm, and some larger Express stores will close at 7pm.”
On New Year’s Day, most Tesco Express stores open for business slightly later than normal.
Many Express branches will then trade until about 10pm, which is around their standard closing time.
Tesco said: “England, Wales, Northern Ireland Extra stores and Superstores will be open from 9am and close by 6pm.
“Scotland Extra stores and Superstores will be open from 11am-6pm.
“Express stores in Scotland will be open from 11am-6pm.
“The majority of Express stores will open from 8am-10pm, but some larger Express stores may have shorter opening hours.”
The UK’s biggest grocer has said its opening hours over the New Year period vary depending on the location of the store.
A Tesco spokesperson said: “we advise customers to find out their local store opening times on our store locator portal here: https://www.tesco.com/store-locator/.
“This is also the best place to check for Petrol Filling Station opening times, as these can vary from main store opening hours.”
