‘Welcome to a New Era of Trans Rage’ – HotAir

An trans activist group in the UK is pushing for more destructive and illegal behavior in response to losses in court. The group calls itself “Bash Back” and while a group under that name originally got started in Chicago, the new group seems to be operating in the UK. The Times of London published a story about them yesterday.

A militant transgender activist group has issued a “direct action” guide to members, urging them to arm themselves and carry out repeated illegal attacks on MPs and organisations.

The group, known as Bash Back, told activists to form “independent local cells”, “identify a target” — including MPs, organisations and political party conferences — and “ensure your target can be hit repeatedly until they desist” from their “transphobic” activities.

The group set out tactics for what it described as direct action, admitting it would be “rarely legal”, and warned participants they could face charges including criminal damage, possession of an offensive weapon and aggravated trespass. The document also included practical advice on carrying out attacks and how to escape detection afterwards.

The group has a website which lays out some of the same goals and which seems to justify targeted harassment, vandalism and possibly violence. [No link for these clowns.]

We are so tired, and so angry — and while we take to the streets time and time again with our flags and our banners and our speeches, nothing seems to work…

BASH BACK is a trans-led direct action project focused on total transgender liberation, showing that we cannot be silenced, we cannot be beaten down and we are not afraid to stand our ground.

Organizations that promote transphobic rhetoric — from banning hormones and puberty blockers, to confining us to or defining us out of categories of woman and man, to promoting conversion therapy and facilitating hideous harassment campaigns — should come to expect us…

All of our targets have blood on their hands. We refuse to let them wash it off in peace. Welcome to a new era of trans rage.

There’s an FAQ on the website which rules out violence against people, in theory.

The principle of acting against wealthy institutions and transphobic agitators necessarily comes with risks. We endeavour to keep all of our actionists safe by practicing non-hierarchical mutual aid, and never performing any action which could endanger life or cause physical harm to another person.

That’s it. That’s the entire guardrail against violence on the website. It sounds good in theory but in practice these are the same anarchist types who make up Antifa cells in a bunch of U.S. cities. Those groups also claim to be nonviolent in interviews but talk about “bashing the fash” a lot as well. In practice, they have shown over and over that they are often prepared for violence against anyone they consider their opponents. If you’re against Antifa, you’re a neo-Nazi and if you’re one of those you deserve to be punched.

So I think what’s happening here is that these people aren’t quite dumb enough to incite violence on their website, knowing that could lead to arrests and prosecution for anyone connected to promoting it. Instead, they pretend to be anti-violence even as they spread a message that’s about promoting illegal activity against certain targets which could easily spill over into violence.

Anyway, I think this likely means, at a minimum, an uptick in vandalism aimed at J.K. Rowling. They clearly have her in mind even though they avoid mentioning her by name. Last year, she responded to threats from Bash Back, saying it was time for the government to take the threats seriously.

She said on X on Sunday: “Who knows, now that trans activists aren’t only stalking, harassing, doxxing, threatening and physically assaulting women, our politicians might finally take the violence that’s such a key feature of this totalitarian movement seriously.”…

Maya Forstater, the chief executive of Sex Matters, said: “After years in which police forces rolled out the red carpet for trans lobby groups and harassed women’s rights campaigners, it’s no wonder that Bash Back seems to believe it can cause criminal damage with impunity.”

Rowling seems like a smart woman. I’m sure her security is up to par but it’s unfortunately she needs it to avoid harassment (or worse) from people like this.
