A WEDDING planner has revealed the four key signs a couple is going to get divorced, before they’ve even walked down the aisle.
After planning over a hundred weddings and 30 proposals, Birdie has picked up on a number of patterns that occur in couples that don’t end up living happily ever after.
“There are certain things I’ve seen time and time again with brides and grooms that have divorced later on”, she revealed in a TikTok video.
Cake smashing
Cake smashing is a viral trend that has soared in popularity in recent years.
It sees the newlyweds smash wedding cake into each other’s faces, in what is supposed to be a fun and playful moment of the wedding.
However, Birdie says the tradition spells doom.

“I don’t know what it represents, but none of my brides and grooms that did it are still together”, she said.
Planning things on the sly
Couples often have strict budgets for their weddings, but Birdie says she has seen plenty of incidents where one person will respect the budget, and the other won’t.
For example, she revealed that sometimes a bride-to-be will ask her to “add this to the flowers”, and to promise not to tell her fiancé about the added cost.
“Those people are getting divorced”, she said.
Overbearing mothers
For many mothers, seeing their son or daughter walk down the aisle is one of the most special days of their lives.
However, some mothers overstep the line, and get way too involved in the wedding planning.
“If the mother is overstepping where she shouldn’t and her child doesn’t check her, it usually leads to problems in the marriage“, Birdie said.
Husbands that aren’t bothered
Many women dream of planning their wedding day from a young age, but some men couldn’t care less about the flower arrangements, or the colour scheme.
“If his one job was to pick a DJ, and we’re a week before the wedding, and he hasn’t gotten it done, that husband is completely checked out”, Birdie said.
The wedding planner’s video, which was posted under the username @biride1216, has likely struck a chord with many people, as it has racked up an impressive 2.7 million views.

A noticeable decrease in affection, physical touch, or romantic gestures can indicate a loss of connection.
TikTok users raced to the video’s comments section to share their thoughts, and opinions were divided.
One person said: “My husband and I smashed cake in our faces and we’ve been married 30 years!”
A second person said: “My ex husband had all of those red flags.”
A third person said: “I played in a wedding string quartet for over a decade.
“I could tell from the couple’s music choice and behaviour who was going to stick together.
“If they choose current country songs and the groom is drunk before the ceremony starts they never last.”
