THOMAS TUCHEL is urging his “angry” subs to carry England to World Cup glory.
The Three Lions boss admits he will enrage stars who start on the bench in America next summer — but says they must accept their roles and forge an unbreakable squad spirit.
Jude Bellingham and Phil Foden came off the bench on Thursday to tee up the second goal by fellow sub Eberechi Eze in a 2-0 win over Serbia.
And ahead of the final qualifier in Albania, Tuchel said: “Of course players will be angry to be subs.
“But if you see the teams that win tournaments, the bench is on their feet. For the last ten minutes there is no one sitting thinking, ‘I should be on the field, why am I not there?’
“I had this in the run with Chelsea [to win the 2021 Champions League] — and it was non-stop.
“Everyone was pushing and fighting from the bench, even if they weren’t picked, and were ready.
“It makes a difference in the end and we should arrive with a squad like that, even if they are disappointed.”
Tuchel will not shoehorn all his star names into the starting line-up, meaning Foden and Cole Palmer may become impact subs.
He is also ready to make half-time changes in the US heat — especially as you are allowed only five changes over three sub ‘windows’.

Tuchel said: “We have to think outside the box and maybe use the extra slot we have at half-time.
“We can maybe have one or two half-time changes to get another slot before the changes in the second half.”
Bellingham made an impact after replacing Morgan Rogers following his four-game absence.
And Bellingham’s ex-Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti hailed the midfielder as a “great player”.
Brazil chief Ancelotti is in London for a friendly with Senegal at the Emirates.
Asked if Bellingham was one of the world’s best, he said: “Of course. England will be dangerous at the World Cup.”
