WAYNE ROONEY’S brother John issued a cheeky dig to the Manchester United legend before his Macclesfield side’s crunch FA Cup clash.
The Silkmen take on cup holders Crystal Palace in the third round at Moss Rose.
Macclesfield manager John linked up with BBC host Mark Chapman for his pre-match interview.
And they were joined by Wayne, who worked as a pundit for the FA Cup match in Macclesfield.
Upon his arrival, United‘s record goalscorer received some X-rated, but seemingly good natured, chants from the home crowd.
The fans appeared to be chanting: “You’re just a s*** John Rooney.”
Chapman asked John: “He’s [Wayne] getting lots of chants from the crowd here – you’re a not very good John Rooney. I’ve paraphrased slightly. Has he ever had that before?”
And the Macclesfield boss quipped: “I think he would’ve had more than that.”
John has been in charge of the non-league side since July following the departure of Robbie Savage.
This comes after a two-year stint as a player that saw the former playmaker help Macclesfield secure promotion to the National League North as Northern Premier League Champions in 2025.

Wayne also tried his luck in management where he couldn’t replicate his massive success as a player.
The legendary striker started out with Derby where he did good despite some very unfavourable conditions.
But the England great couldn’t build up from that as he then underwent some underwhelming stints at DC United, Birmingham and Plymouth.
