AFTER “nearly dying” of Pneumonia, Wayne Lineker has shared a new health update from hospital.
The 63-year-old took to Instagram yesterday to reveal he had beaten the illness and will be able to leave hospital on Boxing Day.
Sitting in a hospital bed and wearing a Santa hat, the Celebs Go Dating star began: “Guys, I just heard the news! I’m going home but not until Boxing Day.
“I’m gonna miss it by a day, oh well. Merry Christmas.”
He penned in the caption: “I have beat pneumonia!! After undoubtedly the toughest six weeks of my life, I will go home on Boxing Day.
“Unfortunately, I will spend Christmas Day in hospital as I have two days left on my IV course of antibiotics. But very happy.

“Thank you to all the incredible doctors and nurses at Basildon hospital.”
His delighted fans flocked to the comments section to send him their well-wishes as one gushed: “Merry Christmas darling, the road to recovery looks great on you.”
Another follower commented: “Good news, you can Christmas whenever you want!!”
Somebody else penned: “Delighted for you! Merry Christmas, have the best time with your family.”
While a fourth added: “Hope you get well soon Ocean Beach King.”
This morning the club owner shared a picture of himself with all of the nurses at the hospital as they beamed from ear to ear in the festive snap.
Wayne is seen sporting some red and white Christmas pyjamas adorned with trees as well as the Santa hat he was previously wearing.
He wrote: “Merry Christmas everyone, love from me and all the girls at the Bursted ward Basildon Hospital.
“Christmas tunes are on!! Been video calling my family too. Watch my story for more hospital fun.”
Wayne revealed he was battling pneumonia earlier this month and told fans he was left unable to walk after contracting a serious illness.
Earlier this week, Wayne explained how that even though he was doing all the rehab prescribed by doctors he may still have to undergo major surgery.
“I know I look a bit rough. But, I’ve been through a lot this past couple of days,” he began.
“Parts of my lungs, weren’t clearing of the phlegm, and were very stubborn. So, they’re giving me breathing exercises which I’m doing daily, well hourly and being more active around the room.”
Wayne was put on strong antibiotics in the hopes they would help clear the infection, but if that didn’t help, he was told he may need to be operated on.
“Its a keyhole surgery and then they’ll go in and do what’s called a washout, and wash my lungs out and hopefully that will be the end of it,” he said.
“It will be touch and go whether I’ll be going home for Christmas. There’s your update. Thanks guys.”
