ABSOLUTELY Fabulous stars Joanna Lumley and Jennifer Saunders have reunited after nine years apart on-screen.
The duo solidified their place in showbiz when they fronted the hugely-successful 1992 sitcom.
They later reunited for the show’s 20th anniversary before fronting an Absolutely Fabulous movie in 2016.
However, this reunion comes in a different cinematic universe.
Joanna and Jennifer are both set to appear in the Amandaland Christmas special, which airs on Christmas Day.
Amandaland is a spin-off of comedy series Motherland, with Joanna portraying Felicity – the mother of eponymous character Amanda.
And this Christmas, Jennifer is joining the ensemble as Felicity’s sister, Joan, who is hosting the family for the festive day.
In a first look trailer, Joanna and the family are seen approaching Joan’s country house manor for Christmas.
Jennifer swings open the door and sings “ding dong merrily on high” in her first appearance in the episode.
Later, the family are seen inside the home looking at her Christmas decorations.
“God, has she still got that?” asks Joanna’s character while looking at the Christmas tree.
Speaking of her joy to be reunited with Jennifer, Joanna told Good Housekeeping earlier this month: “It was pretty special having Jennifer in the show.
“We were playing characters as far from Edina and Patsy as can be imagined.
“Everyone adored having her there, especially me, and it all felt empty when the Christmas episode was over and she had gone.”
As well as starring in Absolutely Fabulous, Joanna and Jennifer are also the show’s creators and have remained good friends in the decades since.
Watch the Amandaland Christmas Special on iPlayer from Christmas Day at 9:15pm.
