A MAFS Australia bride was left stunned by her TV groom after he deemed their relationship a ‘friendship’ – despite them having had sex together.
The shock moment occurred during the first dinner party of the 2026 series, where this year’s MAFS couples shared updates on their blossoming romances.
But for Bec, the night came with a surprise, as she learned that her groom Danny wasn’t feeling the romance in their relationship.
“Tell everyone that you think I’m amazing,” she joked, when their co-stars asked how their new union was going.
“Obviously I think the world of her, we’ve got such a good friendship haven’t we?” he said.
Bec looked visibly stunned and humiliated as her new husband deemed them in the friendship zone.
“That’s not what she wants to hear,” claimed expert Mel Schilling after Danny’s bombshell, who was observing the dinner party in a separate room.
“He facial expression dropped immediately,” agreed Alessandra Rampolla, the show’s resident sexologist.
While dating coach John Aiken analysed: “I think she feels rejected and very insecure about the relationship and his feelings for her.”
Trying to show face in front of her friends, Bec also said that she’d become firm pals with her groom since tying the knot.
“I’m like, I found like a best friend that I didn’t know that I was missing in my life, who I can’t imagine not having in my life now,” she replied.
“I’m happy,” Bec added, with Danny agreeing: “I’m happy too.”
But not everyone bought into their happiness, as co-star Chris accused them of putting on an act.
“Bec and Danny doesn’t seem genuine at all, like they’re sitting there going ‘Oh it’s just so nice. This is so happy. We’re all good,’” he told producers in a separate piece-to-camera.
“I don’t buy it at all, they’re definitely not meant for each other.”
Bec’s MAFS rival Gia also chimed in, telling the camera: “I don’t reckon he’s into her.”
Danny’s friendship admission comes despite the couple having sex on their honeymoon.
MAFS bride Stella asked the pair at the dinner table if they regretted having sex “early on”
However it was Bec who replied on behalf of the couple, telling her co-stars: “Not at all, are you joking.
“We had an amazing day on like the island beach club in Fiji and then we got into bed and had a cuddle and had a great day.”
Danny later added: “With the intimacy side of things I have been in the past the type of guy to rush into things and I didn’t want to do that in this experiment.
“I’d probably rather like take it slow sort of thing. So I probably haven’t been the most intimate with you, have I Bec?”
The dinner party ended with bride Gia claiming that the issue might be that Danny is actually more into her.
“I think Bec and Danny are very much portraying this relationship that’s perfect and ‘we get along and we’re doing so well’ but I’m not buying it.
“Danny, he was the only groom that kkind of looked me up and down a few times, maybe he’s not so into Mrs Grinchy [Bec].
“And he’s probably more into a bit of a baddie,” she concluded.
