Lee huffed and puffed as he answered Claudia’s questions on claiming one of the greatest honours in the dog world.

He stood almost shoulder-to-shoulder with the presenter, who could be heard telling Lee how happy she was with the result.

But before she got the full sentence out, Lee suddenly lifted his arm up and accidentally smacked the bottom of the mic.

The mic jabbed into Claudia’s chin and Lee began to profusely apologise.

All about Claudia Winkleman presenting Crufts on Channel 4

Former Strictly host Claudia attempted to move past the faux pas, saying: “no that’s fine.”

Lee, who dressed in a beige suit and smart brown tie, said: “Oh sorry love I’ve just hit you in the face.”

He continued, awkwardly looking right into the camera: “I’ve just hit Claudia, Claudia in the face with her microphone.”

Claudia replied: ” I enjoyed it but also …”

The telly star then slightly mixed up her words, seemingly reeling from the awkward encounter.

She eventually got out: “I feel your emotions because this culminates so much work and love.”

Claudia is hot property in the presenting world but wanted to present Crufts so badly she begged Channel 4 bosses to take her on.

The 54-year-old joined the show alongside long-standing presenter lead presenter Clare Balding, Ellie Simmonds and Radzi Chinyanganya.

Speaking on joining the Crufts team, Claudia said: “I absolutely love dogs and there is literally nowhere else on earth I’d rather be.

“I can’t wait to join this incredible team and I’m so grateful to Channel 4 for allowing me to be part of it.

“I have a pocket rammed with treats.”

The Olympics of the dog world began on Thursday March 5, and finished with the big finale earlier today.
