And Oyedele, 21, marked his first senior start for Strasbourg by notching an incredible trivela goal.

The midfielder broke away from Mohamed Kaba with a sensational piece of skill and quickly advanced into the penalty box.

Oyedele then found the bottom corner of the net with the outside of his right foot to get Strasbourg back on level terms following Dehmaine Tabibou’s opener.

Nantes retook the lead through Matthis Abline, but Joaquin Panichelli’s late double snatched victory for O’Neil’s side.

Man Utd sold Oyedele to Legia Warsaw for just £500,000 when then-boss Erik ten Hag decided there was not a route into the first-team picture.

The Poland international progressed through the Old Trafford ranks after first joining aged eight.

He also played a key role, alongside Kobbie Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho, in lifting the FA Youth Cup in 2022.

But Oyedele walked away without being rewarded with a Red Devils debut.

And Man Utd skipper Bruno Fernandes was stunned to see the starlet offloaded.

He said: “I think he was always one of the players that everyone at the club thought would be coming from the academy into the first-team.

“He has great qualities, he is a great kid and really humble.”

Man Utd banked more than £2million when Oyedele headed to Strasbourg last summer.

They included a 40 per cent sell-on clause in the deal which took him to Legia Warsaw.
