Carreras, 22, completed Los Blancos’ triumph just eight minutes before full-time with his first ever goal for the club after a brace by Kylian Mbappe and another strike by England star Jude Bellingham.

And the full-back did it in style with an incredible finish that should go down as a nominee for goal of the season.

The defender fired a rocket of a shot with his left-foot from a tight corner down the left and smashed the ball into Valencia goalkeeper Julen Agirrezabala’s top left corner.

Carreras went viral after his brilliant finish, and even made waves across the United fanbase.

The left-back joined Man Utd‘s academy from Real at the age of 17 in 2020 and spent two years with the youth sides.

The ex-Spain youth international then spent the next four years out on loan for the likes of Preston North End, Granada and Benfica, who signed him on a permanent deal in 2024 before his return to Madrid in July.

And the Red Devils faithful were left gobsmacked after witnessing Carreras’ screamer, with some even wondering why the club let him go in the first place.

Many suggested the United academy graduate is yet another talent that will go on to enjoy success after leaving the club, just like Scott McTominay, Antony and Anthony Elanga.

One fan tweeted: “Once again this man played for my football club!”

Another commented: “This goal defies physics.”

A third wrote: “And United let him go for peanuts with [Diogo] Dalot and [Patrick] Dorgu to fall back on.”

This fan said: “We decided to not activate his buy-back clause and bought Dorgu.

“No hate to Dorgu but I would have taken a risk with Alvaro over him any day.”

And that one gushed: “Why didn’t [Ruben] Amorim call him back? But instead signed Dorgu.”

Carreras never played for United’s first team and already counts 13 appearances with Real this season.
