Vulgarians in the Oval Office and the Self-Appointed Guardians at the Gate – HotAir

How deep does the deep state rot go in the bowels of our intelligence agencies?

I don’t know that we’ll ever truly find out or root it all out, but what’s been coming to light should surely piss every red-blooded American off royally.

The first hard evidence you could point to, I guess, was when Kash Patel literally stumbled across burn bags full of Russia hoax notes, emails, and memoranda tucked away inside a secret hidey-hole that were meant to be destroyed at some point.

But the perpetrators who were the source of the materials contained in those classified disposal bags had been in no hurry for a bonfire as everyone felt pretty confident they wouldn’t be moving out of their offices any time soon.

Lucky for us, they were sadly mistaken. I can only assume that in the shock and mad panic after Trump’s November 5th win, the minor detail of lighting a match to what they’d squirreled away for later destruction was overlooked.

The bags have been such a treasure trove of information, they are still running down information and new, emerging whistleblower claims thanks to the tsunami of data in them.

…One of the most serious allegations cited in the letter involves the use of warrants under the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act, commonly known as FISA.

The agent claimed that investigators repeatedly sought to renew surveillance warrants targeting Trump campaign associates even after some FBI personnel raised concerns.

The special counsel investigation, launched in 2017, examined whether Trump’s campaign had coordinated with Russia during the 2016 election.

The probe concluded in March 2019 and cost more than $30 million, ultimately finding no evidence that the Trump campaign conspired with Russia to influence the election.

In 2023, a separate investigation led by special counsel John Durham concluded that the FBI’s handling of the original Russia probe was “seriously flawed.”

As we knew and much more we suspected, the various agencies, including the FBI, the CIA, etc., were all working in concert, not for the American people, but to foil Donald Trump and derail his future political prospects, if not get him outright imprisoned, at whatever level they could.

Obama’s efforts to scuttle a nascent Trump presidency are well-documented. Now correspondence is revealing how deep the fingers of the Biden White House went into similar efforts, as a letter detailing WH coordination with disgraced Georgia prosecutor Fani Willis has come to light.

The Biden White House took a major step to help Fulton County Fani Willis move forward with her Trump probe.

A top White House lawyer agreed in September 2022 to waive executive privilege so Willis’ team could have former Trump administration officials and senior advisors testify before a grand jury, according to a letter obtained by Just the News.

Though Willis tried to present herself as impartial, President Donald Trump’s legal team suggested coordination between her office and the Biden administration in a legal filing seeking records related to any interactions. America First Legal filed a lawsuit with Just The News to obtain the records

But there is more to the clandestine actions of the bureaucrats who were covertly working to undercut and subvert the first Trump presidency while actively plotting his legal downfall.

It turns out these spooks and officials were ignoring the first tenet of their charge as United States intelligence officials – to protect the country.

In what could be termed a bombshell, as trite as that word has become through overuse, John Solomon and Jerry Dunleavy at Just the News have uncovered a pretty damning story of malignant dereliction of duty.

Maybe you all will remember this – it caused quite an international commotion at the time.

U.S. and Britain accuse China-linked hackers of ‘malicious’ cyber campaigns, announce sanctions

The U.S. and U.K. on Monday accused hackers linked to the Chinese state of being behind “malicious” cyber campaigns targeting political figures, in moves expected to stoke tensions with Beijing.

The British government also alleged that China-affiliated hackers were behind an attack that saw the data of millions of voters accessed.

“I can confirm today that Chinese state-affiliated actors were responsible for two malicious cyber campaigns targeting our democratic institutions and parliamentarians,” British Deputy Prime Minister Oliver Dowden said in a speech to Parliament on Monday.

Dowden attributed a hack on the Electoral Commission, the independent agency tasked with setting standards for how U.K. elections should be run, to a China state-affiliated actor. The campaigns were said to have taken place between 2021 and 2022.

The attack was identified by the Electoral Commission in October 2022, but wasn’t disclosed until last year. Hackers accessed the names and addresses of anyone in Britain registered to vote between 2014 and 2022, the Electoral Commission said in a 2023 public notice.

The Brits were a little tardy in releasing news of the attacks, but at least they eventually did so.

What wasn’t known at the time, in all the screaming issuing from both sides of the Atlantic about the British data breach, was that the Chinese had also infiltrated and stolen reams of voter registration data from the United States…

The United States expressed outrage when Great Britain revealed two years ago that its voter registration databases were hacked by China in what became a global scandal. But it turns out the U.S. intelligence harbored its own secret at the time, knowing since 2020 that Beijing also gained access to American voter registration data, according to documents reviewed by Just the News and interviews with officials with direct knowledge.

“[Redacted] Chinese intelligence officials analyzed multiple U.S. states’ [Redacted] election voter registration data, [Redacted] to conduct public opinion analysis on the 2020 US general election,” stated a once highly classified April 2020 National Intelligence Council memo entitled “Cyber Operations Enabling Expansive Authoritarianism.”

…and nobody in the Biden administration ever said a word to anyone.

That means six years later that the U.S. intelligence community has yet to fully inform the American people or the Congress on the breadth of evidence it possesses of China’s actions, how Beijing got the data, and what operations it has taken or contemplated.

The gap in public knowledge is particularly politically sensitive as the Senate this week debates a new election security bill that is a top priority for President Donald Trump. Officials told Just the News that Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard and CIA Director John Ratcliffe are working to declassify a potentially explosive tranche of documents showing what China did, and who in U.S. government knew and when.

The secrecy surrounding China’s access to voter registration has been so persistent that even Republican National Committee Chairman Joe Gruters, President Donald Trump’s point man for the 2026 mid-term elections, said he was unaware of the intelligence. “What’s crazy is the fact that China has access to these voter rolls, but we don’t,” Gruters told John Solomon Reports podcast in an episode set to air Tuesday.

As officials told Just the News, these were not ballots, but voter registration data. The sort of information that is invaluable to the wrong hands, something that the FBI was already warning Britain about regarding its own breach, and had feared happening here during the 2020 election

…In the hands of a foreign power, such data could be used to mimic social personas designed to influence elections or to make absentee ballot requests to cast fake votes, something the FBI feared China might be doing during the 2020 election, according to recently declassified documents.

Senators have told Solomon’s investigators they’ve never been made aware of any Chinese ‘efforts to access voter registration data.’

This first report is where things begin to get dicey. Remember, at this point, Trump is still president, and intelligence officers who want to raise alarms are being blocked from doing so. And when they pursue the issue, they are being reassigned and eventually fired.

…One of the intelligence officers who worked on the China cyber hacking portfolio under Trump and tried to raise the alarm bell as a whistleblower only to be blocked by colleagues in various spy agencies confirmed that the evidence of Beijing obtaining voter data is solid and extensive.

“We knew by April 2020 that Chinese intelligence had voter registration data from multiple states and was analyzing it with an eye toward the 2020 election,” former NIC officer Christopher Porter told Just the News. “But CIA blocked efforts to inform President Trump and later stopped many of these reports from being made available to Congress.”

During the Biden administration, when I raised concern about the legal requirement to share these and other reports with Congressional oversight, they changed my job to exclude me from elections and then fired me,” he said.

WHUT

There has to be an explanation for something so completely outrageous and counter to national security, right?

Oh, there was. And it’s frickin’ criminal.

TDS KNOWS NO BOUNDARIES

US intel hid Chinese 2020 election meddling from Trump because they opposed his policies, memo says

Dr. Barry A. Zulauf, a member of the Senior National Intelligence Service reported that others in the intelligence community said “I don’t want my intelligence going to the White House where it will be used by that vulgarian in the Oval Office to support policies against China with which I personally disagree.”

Analysts inside the U.S. intelligence community sought to conceal evidence of Chinese influence efforts from President Donald Trump during the 2020 election, with analysts saying they didn’t want their intel used by “that vulgarian in the Oval Office” to pursue policies toward China they personally disagreed with.

The revelation is found within a January 2021 report written by — and never before reported upon comments by — analytic ombudsman Barry Zulauf, who conducted a review of the spy community’s handling of Russian versus Chinese meddling efforts during the 2020 election. Among his conclusions was that intelligence analysts downplayed China’s actions because they had disdain for the “vulgarian” Trump and did not want to support the policies and priorities of the Trump administration toward China with which they “personally disagree.”

The security of our national elections was in the hands of a pissy group of thirteen-year-old, pre-menstrual girls deciding who could play with them and who could not.

…“Dr. Zulauf went on to point out the various errors in this way of thinking — intelligence belongs to the community, not a single analyst, and further, while analysts are entitled to like or dislike particular leaders, they are not entitled to allow that to alter the intelligence products that they put forward,” the journal article said.

The review by Zulauf also found that allegations of Russian meddling and Chinese meddling were being measured based on differing standards, meaning Russia may have taken actions that were determined to be influence or interference efforts while, if and when China took the same or similar actions, those Chinese actions likely would not have been determined to be influence or interference efforts.

Due to varying collection and insight into hostile state actors’ leadership intentions and domestic election influence campaigns, the definitional use of the terms ‘influence’ and ‘interference’ and associated confidence levels are applied differently by the China and Russia analytic communities,” Zulauf wrote in his report.

The ombudsman found that “the terms were applied inconsistently across the analytic community” and that “failing to explain properly these definitions is inconsistent with Tradecraft Standards.”

It then begs the question – were these analysts who favored ranking Russian interference of the same ilk as more serious than the Chinese also coordinating with the agencies and analysts now known as the Russia Hoaxers? That would make sense in light of their downgrading the seriousness of similar Chinese incursions. Russian hackers were meant to work for Trump – that was the narrative being set. If the Chinese were also trying to break into the voting system, that would dilute the entire scheme.

Unsurprisingly, then, when the agencies released their intelligence assessment, the result was baked in. The majority of analysts concluded that Russia was a threat and China was just being, well, you know

Nosy.

…“We assess that China did not deploy interference efforts and considered but did not deploy influence efforts intended to change the outcome of the U.S. Presidential election,” the ODNI said. “We have high confidence in this judgment. China sought stability in its relationship with the United States, did not view either election outcome as being advantageous enough for China to risk getting caught meddling.”

The majority view stated that “the IC assesses that Chinese state media criticism of the Trump administration’s policies related to China and its response to the COVID-19 pandemic remained consistent in the lead-up to the election and was aimed at shaping perceptions of U.S. policies and bolstering China’s global position rather than to affect the 2020 US election.”

“We assess that Beijing’s risk calculus against influencing the election was informed by China’s preference for stability in the bilateral relationship, their probable judgment that attempting to influence the election could do lasting damage to U.S.-China ties, and belief that the election of either candidate would present opportunities and challenges for China,” the majority view said. “Beijing probably judged that Russia’s efforts to interfere in the 2016 election significantly damaged Moscow’s position and relationship with the United States and may have worried that Washington would uncover a Chinese attempt to deploy similar measures to influence or interfere in the election and punish Beijing.”

The majority view also said that “China probably also continued longstanding efforts to gather information on U.S. voters and public opinion; political parties, candidates and their staffs; and senior government officials” but argued that “we assess Beijing probably sought to use this information to predict electoral outcomes and to inform its efforts to influence U.S. policy toward China under either election outcome” and that “Beijing did not interfere with election infrastructure.

Of course, this is precisely what the Biden administration and all the agencies wanted released, so no one paid any attention to the small cadre of gripers in the minority opinion. Trump’s Director of National Intelligence (DNI) at the time, John Ratcliffe, released his own letter concurring with the minority assessment.

…The national intelligence officer for cyber at the time, Christopher Porter, assessed with others that the Chinese had indeed tried to undercut Trump in his reelection race.

…Ratcliffe released a letter in January 2021 wherein he stood by the national intelligence officer for cyber in assessing that China had indeed tried to influence the 2020 race. “I do not believe the majority view expressed by Intelligence Community analysts fully and accurately reflects the scope of the Chinese government’s efforts to influence the 2020 U.S. federal elections,” Ratcliffe said.

The Just the News report is so incredibly detailed on what was purposefully withheld from the vulgarians in the White House that it takes some time to read. I would encourage you to do so when you can.

The depth of the treachery and arrogance is gobsmacking.

…Last year, FBI Director Kash Patel turned over to Congress a long-hidden intelligence report from 2020 which raised concerns that China had plans to mass-produce fake U.S. driver’s licenses to carry out a scheme to swing the election to Biden with fake mail-in ballots.

The FBI information report had been sent as an uncorroborated advisory to U.S. intelligence agencies on August 24, 2020. It was then suddenly recalled in September 2020 — the day after then-FBI Director Chris Wray testified to Congress that he had not seen any large-scale voter fraud efforts.

…The Justice Department, FBI, DHS, and CISA put out a “joint report” in March 2021 which argued there was “no evidence that any foreign government-affiliated actor manipulated election results or otherwise compromised the integrity of the 2020 federal elections.”

The report downplayed or dismissed the impact that Chinese meddling may have had.

And how about that SAVE Act, huh?

What a time to find all this out.

It should help make Democrat senators squirm even more.

As for the agencies and the task still ahead of Patel, Gabbard, and Ratcliffe…all I can say is God bless them and keep charging forward.

If we don’t carve the rot out while we have this one chance, we never will.
