A WOMAN who was abused by David Carrick for four years said she felt “sick” knowing that he could have been stopped as a teenager.
She met Carrick on a dating app in 2017 and was subjected to horrendous abuse at his home in Hertfordshire.
For years the victim – who cannot be named for legal reasons – thought she was the only one Carrick, 50, had raped and tortured.
At the time, she was too scared to tell anyone what was happening.
She only felt safe to report her hell after news broke of his arrest in October 2021 and she saw his face on television.
She told The Sun: “I feel angry and sick knowing they knew he was capable of hurting women from such a young age but they did nothing.
“If they stopped him he would not have got to us. This man is a beast.
“He wrecked my life. Police should have done better checks for godsake. How many more women will come out?
“How can I move on with my life when more and more comes out about this man?
“He told me about abusing this girl when he was drunk once and I told the police about it when I was interviewed.
“I didn’t want to believe it as it was so horrible – but it’s all true.
“I cannot believe he got away for it for so many years. But now look at him, he got caught.
“It just took one woman to stand up and then we all followed.
“I hope he rots til the end.”
The prolific Met Police rapist was today found guilty of more twisted offences after he abused a 12-year-old girl and raped a woman.
Carrick was unmasked as one of the UK’s worst serial rapists following his original plea to 49 charges – including 24 counts of rape.
The vile fiend was previously handed 36 life sentences.
But he has since admitted further charges in a pattern of “horrific” offending dating back 35 years.
Carrick, who served as an armed officer in the Metropolitan Police, sexually assaulted the child in the late 1980s.
Over 20 years later, he repeatedly raped a woman and subjected her to “degrading and humiliating” abuse during the course of a toxic relationship.
Prosecutor Tom Little, KC said Carrick’s offences against the last two victims was “both predatory and controlling”.
He added: “This was not isolated offending but was part of a pattern which the defendant has perpetrated over many years.”
The court heard Carrick abused the 12-year-old girl for around 18 months before she told her mum what was going on.
He later confessed in a letter which was recovered from his medical records and signed “Dave”.
In it, Carrick wrote that the girl was “not crazy” and that it was “true” but that he had stopped about four months ago.
He wrote: “I know how (the girl) must feel.
“That’s why I stopped and promised I would never go near her again and I have kept that promise and I always will.”
In a police interview, the victim described Carrick as “very sly” and “manipulative”.
After she told her mum about the abuse, the matter was “brushed under the carpet like it was nothing”.
Carrick was arrested in October 2021 after a woman claimed he raped her when they met on Tinder.
Bodycam footage showed the fiend being detained at his home in Stevenage, Hertfordshire.
He can be seen arguing with officers, asking them: “What is it you’re searching for?”
When told, the naked cop responds: “For f**k’s sake, I have only been a police officer for 20 years.”
He then asks “do you want me to come naked like this?” before an officer offers to get his stuff.
Although the charge was dropped after he pleaded not guilty, the publicity sparked a wave of allegations that put an end to Carrick’s gruesome crime spree.
He worked for the Met’s Parliamentary and Diplomatic Protection Command unit – the same department as Sarah Everard‘s killer Wayne Couzens.
It is not clear if the pair knew each other while working at the elite unit at the same time.
The gun cop, whose colleagues branded him “B*****d Dave”, met some of his victims on dating apps such as Tinder and Badoo.
He would flash his warrant card to lure the women into a false sense of security and told them: “I’m a police officer, you can trust me”.
The monster also boasted about meeting the Prime Minister in his role guarding parliamentary, government and diplomatic buildings.
He was today convicted of five counts of indecent assault against a girl under 16 between April 1989 and August 1990.
Carrick was also found guilty of two counts of raping a woman between 2014 and 2019.
He was further convicted of sexually assaulting the same woman and coercive and controlling behaviour against her.
The fiend will be sentenced tomorrow for the latest charges.
