Police have issued a fresh appeal for a taxi driver who stopped at the scene of a horrific crash that killed two sisters on a walk – as they arrest a female driver.
Officers from Thames Valley Police rushed to the scene in Caversham, a village outside of Reading, in Berkshire.
Emergency services swarmed the area where a blue Volkswagen Tiguan ploughed into two women, aged 70 and 68, on Peppard Road near the junction of Cedar Wood Crescent.
The sisters, named only as Sandra and Sylvia, were looking forward to welcoming great-grandchildren to their family when they were killed.
Officers arrested a 47-year-old woman from Reading on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
She has been released under investigation.
Police confirmed that a taxi driver stopped at the scene shortly after the crash but has yet to speak with police as a witness.
In a bid to piece together the events, officers are also calling on anyone who was driving in the area at the time to check their dash-cam footage.

In a statement shared by the force, the family previously described Sandra and Sylvia as the ”two of the most loving, caring women you would ever meet’
They said: ‘It is such a tragedy that these two lives have been taken away and knowing they were taken whilst they were doing what they loved best – their morning walks, it just hits harder.
‘Every Friday morning, the sisters would go for a walk, down to the town and back home. But unfortunately this Friday was different.
A police spokesperson said: ‘Thames Valley Police is appealing for a specific witness to come forward following a fatal collision in Caversham.
‘At around 7.55am on Friday 27 June, a blue Volkswagen Tiguan was involved in a collision with two pedestrians on Peppard Road near the junction of Cedar Wood Crescent.
‘Sadly, a 70-year-old woman and a 68-year old woman died at the scene.
‘A 47-year-old woman from Reading has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. She has been released under investigation while enquiries are ongoing.’
Investigating officer PS Matthew Cadmore of the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: ‘We are continuing our investigation following this collision and my thoughts remain with the families of those who died.
‘We are aware that a taxi driver stopped at the scene following the incident, but at this time we have not been able to speak to him as a witness.
‘As such, if you were the taxi driver who stopped at the scene, we would ask you to please come forward with any information you can provide.
‘Additionally we would ask anyone who was driving in the area at the time to please review their dash-cam footage and get in touch if it shows anything that may assist our investigation.
