Urgent hunt to find missing woman, 51, last seen at her home before travelling over 200 miles by train to the coast

COPS have launched an urgent hunt for a missing woman who vanished after travelling more than 200 miles to a popular coastal town.

Concerns are growing for Sheherazade Van Der Zijden, 51, who disappeared from her home in Surrey four days ago.

Devon and Cornwall Police said: “Police are concerned for the welfare of Sheherazade Van Der Zijden….

“… a 51 year old woman, who was last seen at her home address in Surrey on Thursday 15th January 2026.

“It is known she travelled by train from London to Cornwall on 16th January 2026.

“She then travelled on a First Cornwall Bus boarding at Hayle Viaduct at 12:37pm.

“The bus arrived at North Cliffs near Hayle at 13:05pm the same day.

“Her personal effects were located near the cliff edge, but she has not been seen since.”
