U of Michigan Seems to Have a China Problem – HotAir

It was hard enough getting used to ‘New Math,’ but in this day and age, ‘scholar’ doesn’t exactly mean anything near what it used to, either.

Like, at Columbia, the argument for not deporting his hate-filled, anti-American butt is that  Khalil is a gentle Palestinian ‘scholar.’ He’s simply passionate about his people.





At the University of Michigan, the Chinese ‘scholars’ there are also open to interpretation of their intentions.

Sheesh! She seems nice. Has a smart boyfriend, too. Shoot.

Maybe it’s only ‘cultural differences’ – agricultural.

…Jian is a citizen of China who received a doctorate degree in plant pathogens from Zhejiang University, and investigators say they have discovered information describing her membership in and loyalty to the Chinese Communist Party. Prosecutors say she received money from a Chinese foundation funded largely by the Chinese government to conduct post-doctoral work, including research on a fungus known as Fusarium graminearum, a biological pathogen that can cause devastating diseases in crops.

Prosecutors say her boyfriend illegally smuggled a biological pathogen into the U.S. at the Detroit Metropolitan Airport on July 27.

“When Customs and Border Protection officers questioned Liu, he made false statements to CBP officers about the purpose of his visit to the United States, and his knowledge of the existence of the biological pathogen in his possession,” an FBI special agent wrote in the criminal filing.

“Ultimately, Liu admitted to smuggling the pathogen and stated that he brought the pathogen into the United States so that he could conduct research on it at a laboratory at the University of Michigan where his girlfriend, Jian, worked,” the agent added.

Fusarium graminearum is a strain of a plant pathogen that causes “head blight,” according to the criminal case, a disease that can devastate wheat, barley, maize and rice.

“Fusarium graminearum is responsible for billions of dollars in economic losses worldwide each year,” the agent wrote. Toxins produced by Fusarium graminearum cause vomiting, liver damage and reproductive defects in livestock and humans, according to the complaint.





The U.S. Attorney is unhappy.

…“The alleged actions of these Chinese nationals — including a loyal member of the Chinese Communist Party — are of the gravest national security concerns,” interim U.S. Attorney Jerome Gorgon said in a statement. “These two aliens have been charged with smuggling a fungus that has been described as a ‘potential agroterrorism weapon’ into the heartland of America, where they apparently intended to use a University of Michigan laboratory to further their scheme.”

Jian is in federal custody, and her boyfriend has already left the country, returning to China. It seems he was the bagman in the whole scheme, but she’s facing the possibility of at least twenty years or so.

U of M is covering itself in Chinese glory lately. According to the Feds in an indictment sealed last Friday, another one of their former Chinese ‘scholars’ voted in last year’s presidential election, which was, of course, illegal. Which, we’ve been assured, never happens.

University of Michigan student fled to China after being charged with voting illegally, FBI says

A Chinese national charged with voting illegally at the University of Michigan has fled the U.S., according to a criminal complaint filed by the Federal Bureau of Investigation that was unsealed on Friday.

Haoxiang Gao was attending the Ann Arbor-based university in October 2024 and lived on campus, authorities said.

Safety officials with the school spoke with Gao on Oct. 28 after hearing reports that a student had unlawfully cast a vote in the 2024 general election, according to the recently unsealed court documents. CBS Detroit previously reported on the case but authorities didn’t identify Gao at the time. 

Gao admitted during the conversation with the school that he registered to vote and did cast a vote at a polling location on campus on Oct. 27. He was charged by the state on Oct. 30 with one count each of unauthorized elector attempting to vote and making a false affidavit for the purpose of securing voter registration, court records show.





This guy booked out because he had a spare passport. Doesn’t everyone?

Truth be told, we have a sincere and self-inflicted Chinese ‘scholar’ problem in this country. As one wag on X put it, we’re educating the enemy. Some of whom, like Miss Jian above, stick around to try to kill us here, while others go back to China to work with what they’ve learned and/or stolen while living in the States and paying full freight at our best universities.





Take Harvard…please.

Seriously, though.

The Chinese ‘student’ who gave Harvard’s graduation address this year is the daughter of a CCP high official. Last year, the same girl was seen directing CCP security thugs dragging Taiwanese and Tibetan protestors out of the Chinese ambassador’s Harvard speech. What a good little Maoist!

And Harvard rewarded her.

Let a Jewish student touch one hair on a Palestinian protester’s head and see what happens at that same Harvard.

And what a thrill to have your graduation ceremony become a CCP cheerleading exercise, with a paean to Chairman Xi Jinping’s ‘grand vision.’

Not to mention, the school gleefully swallows up all the Red Chinese communists it can, even as Harvard routinely discriminates against Chinese-AMERICANS?

Anyone see a problem here?





Senator Ashley Moody has a bill to stop the CCP student visa program, codifying what Secretary of State Rubio is already beginning to enforce.

The CCP-sponsored ‘WAAH!’ propaganda from the usual tools has already begun.

Let them howl.
