PETER WRIGHT should leave darts on his own terms, according to ex-pro Mark Webster.
The two-time world champion has managed just ONE win on tour this year and has slipped out of the top 32 following a torrid run of form.
Wright, 55, has already been urged by other pundits to step away from the oche and take a break.
But Webster believes Wright cannot afford to ease off even though he fears time may finally be catching up with him.
He told Love the Darts Podcast: “No, not really. It is concerning, the performance level of Peter Wright.
“He won one game on tour this year and he is finding it really tough.
“You just have to keep playing through it. Ideally, it would be nice to take a break, but then you are getting left behind.
“You’re just performing and being in the process. Where does it go from here?
“This is not something that has happened overnight. It has been in the pipeline for a couple of years now.
“For Peter, maybe it is coming to the end of his career.”

Wright returns to action this Friday afternoon at the UK Open and will face Darius Labanauskas in round three.
The Scot won the tournament in 2017 but hasn’t progressed beyond the sixth round since.
Webster added: “He has fond memories of Minehead; his first major title came in the venue. So he has to clutch through to that.
“He just needs to get through a few rounds, maybe just to help his confidence, and then he can attack the rest of the tour.
“In terms of winning the event, he is nowhere near and he will be aware of that.
“He will be so frustrated because nothing seems to be working for him at the minute.
“He has always tweaked equipment when he was successful. But now he has been unsuccessful, it has been deemed as looking desperate.
“He just needs to find some form and a happy medium when he is playing; otherwise he is just going to drift off Tour.
“He has had a fantastic career, Peter Wright, and you would love to see him depart on his own terms.”
