Two people have been rushed to hospital after a double-decker bus was involved in a crash with a car.
The Stagecoach bus veered off the road and ploughed into hedges as it struck a lamp post. One person from each vehicle was taken to hospital for assessment, Gloucestershire Police said.
Emergency services including police, firefighters and paramedics were called to the scene at the A46 Shurdington Road, near Cheltenham, at about 1pm on Monday.
The road was closed for several hours until 8pm and the National Grid were sent over to switch off the power while the bus was recovered and to ensure the lamp post was safe.
A National Grid spokesperson said a total of 49 properties in Shurdington were impacted.
A Stagecoach West spokesperson said: ‘We can confirm that one of our buses was involved in a road traffic incident.
‘Emergency services attended the scene and the road has been closed while recovery operations take place. A recovery vehicle is currently on its way, and a full investigation into the circumstances of the incident is underway.
‘The safety of our passengers, drivers and other road users is our absolute priority, and we are working closely with the authorities to understand the cause of this incident’.
